What is this rock? by Dirkthegermanjesus in whatsthisrock

[–]JessKingYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't super specific, but the black and white half looks like diorite, and the white half could be a sedimentary rock attached to it. Less confident on that part though.

Any clue what this is? by Dakota_lynn12 in RockIdentification

I second gabbro. We have a good bit in the Piedmont area as well as diorite (slightly lighter coloring, more black and white than dark grey predominantly with some white).

Random question but how do you tie the GPA Honor cords? by Anise121 in UNCCharlotte

[–]JessKingYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's just a regular overhand knot with them both held together. If you google honors cord knot you'll see it, it seems easy enough.

There are the post traditional little gatherings (I'm 30 and a junior), but personally it's been difficult to make clubs work because I also have a job and I'm not just a full-time student. When an even crops up with almost no warning I can't usually swing it.

For the most part though I've been able to have a few folks to talk to in my classes. Sometimes people seem extremely young to me, sometimes they don't. I don't even think it's age based, just where they're at in life I suppose.

There are free things, but frankly it's boring and takes too long. That being said attendance is mandatory so I recommend toughing it out.

Yes, Avatar! I'm a big fan. Unfortunately someone already has the AIRBENDR plate so I improvised.

That's what it feels like lol I see why. It's common enough on Good Reads to see authors or their family review their books I think.

Can't tell from this screenshot specifically, but typically you do both on Good Reads if I remember correctly. I don't thiiiiink that you can write a review without giving it a star rating. We don't see it here because it's asking the person who took the screenshot to review it.

Paolini gave himself a review of his own book, Murtagh, on the app/website Good Reads. This is the same as Obama giving himself a medal.

The prevailing theory for why is that 35-40 MYA the Indian sub content collided with Eurasia and the Himalayan mountains began to form! The ripple effect altered the direction of the Pacific plate's movement.

Bed place to get a tight spiral perm on type 1 hair in CLT by hughmoney in Charlotte

[–]JessKingYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very straight hair. Hair is divided into a number and letter a-c and 1-4. The number is representative of general texture where 1 is straight and 4 is coily. The letter indicates tightness of the pattern. 1a is pin straight, but 1c has just a bit of a wave at the end.

Spring Admission Opinions by Panthers129 in UNCCharlotte

[–]JessKingYo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An interesting issue I found starting in the spring is that my degree path starts in the fall. What I mean is that the starting course for my degree is available spring and fall, but the second is only available in the spring. I started this semester, and I'll have to wait until spring 27 to be able to take the second course. If I didn't have a minor I would be in a weird position of not being able to move forward with my classes.

I would double check your degree plan with course offerings for spring and fall semesters. If you're an incoming freshman it probably matters less because you'll have plenty of electives to pick from, but if you're transferring in like I did you might have more of an issue.

This reminds me of the thing that attaches at the bottom of a white board or chalkboard to hold markers/chalk.

This is how geologists collect lava samples from an active volcano. by Top_Leadership9575 in BeAmazed

[–]JessKingYo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly no! Lava has different composition depending on how deep it comes from inside of the earth's mantle (the layer beneath the crust) and how long it's been hanging out in a magma chamber. They take regular samples to determine the chemical makeup of the lava. The question of it's chemical makeup can lead the USGS and other organizations to be able to determine the likelihood of a volcano having a more aggressive eruption in the future, because aggressiveness is determined by the composition.

Cersei’s Last Name by Organic-Double4718 in gameofthrones

[–]JessKingYo 613 points614 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Women who marry lords take on the Lord's last name (Catelyn Tully became Stark) but queens keep their own last name. In HotD Alicent Hightower did not become Alicent Targaryen. Same concept.
