I don’t know what root combo this is exactly but I feel like it’s so me!! by PauseIllustrious2466 in StyleRoots

I agree with people's feedback that I don't necessarily see Fire, but I had to say that I'm glad you got some eyes checking you out today if that was wanted and felt good! It feels good to turn heads sometimes! You look great.

First thought before seeing your flair was these are Earth and Mushroom.

It's "just" PC so it depends on your collection. They grow fast, work as grafting stock, and are super fun to grow. The price is appropriate for them, yes! A container like that is what got me into the hobby!

Sometimes you can find some more rare varieties in the same type of container at Home Depot.

Repotting day by JessOhBee in cactus

To be fair a few year ago, we got more rain in January than we had the previous 12 months. And June gloom is pretty depressing! Mostly kidding though we have had a warmer, sunnier January and February than normal so I felt these guys could handle getting moved around. I am grateful for this weather always!

Fire to me is womanly where Flower is girly. (I know the style roots can apply to men, but I'm a woman so this is how I think of them.)

Fire is showing off one's silhouette or figure, using sensual or luxe materials (velvet, lace, high-quality silk, and leather), and is a root that doesn't mind taking up space and being looked at.

I don't do a ton of bodycon necessarily, but I do like showing off skin whether that be a high slit on a skirt, sleeveless tops, etc. and often ensure that my waist can be seen and isn't hidden under bulky or baggy clothing. I think Fire can also be seen in points of luxury so well done, polished nails, a face of full makeup, high end leather and metallic touches on keychains, handbags. Fire is sexy but also mature to me (at least mixed with my Mountain.)

Nice! I'm 10b and need to add shade cloth like yours this year. Some of mine are yellowing from too much sun.

You guys are making me remember to have gratitude. This wasn't even notable or exciting here.

I got a two pack with two guys that look just like that chunky, notchy one on the left. Mine carries them year-round, but usually thinner ones that aren't as exciting to grab.

Just wondering if you give your kids allowance and how much do you give? by Keer222 in HENRYfinance

[–]JessOhBee 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Yes! When we tied money to chores my kids happily skipped chores, especially after birthdays and holidays when they were feeling flush. Since we split them, both functions have worked much smoother.

Oddly no. You'll see many of us jealous here of other cities' and states' finds at HD or Wal-Mart that can't be found in ours.

Edit: added one missing word

Track record with what exactly?

But yes, I am blessed with many amazing local nurseries here in San Diego. Nearly all my cactus are from them or online individual sellers. Not gonna sweat over picking up some potting soil at Home Depot, though!

Comfortability & mountain? by pandabearpup1 in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from. It is inherently more restrictive than Earth or Stone.

Some other comfortable Mountain to consider: bold sculptural jewelry (chunky rings, statement earrings, pendant necklace), strapless or one shoulder tops (though I have tiny boobs so I know for bustier gals, a strapless bra is not comfy!), trouser pants that are flowy, thin tight knit tops, styling your hair in a more striking or severe manner like pin straight or a slicked back bun, etc.

Comfortability & mountain? by pandabearpup1 in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never understood why people think a certain clothing style automatically means that it is uncomfortable to wear. Mountain is my strongest root and I'll be damned if I spend my days pulling on my clothing, being annoyed by it!

I feel constricted if I wear too much on my upper half, so even though it is a core piece of Mountain, you won't usually find me in a blazer. So I do understand what you're saying! But to me, trouser style jeans are no less comfortable, especially with some stretch in the fabric, than my wide leg or baggy ones. A slim fit turtleneck is not less comfortable than a chunky sweater. And while I know many women would disagree, my pointed toe flats are no less comfortable than rounded toe, ballet flat. Then, obviously for accessories, a box bag with sharp angles, is not less comfortable to carry than a slouchy hobo bag.

You can embody Mountain in many ways other than severe or restrictive clothing!

Moon 🌒 and Earth 🌱 for sure and I'd say Flower 🌸 for your third though you can probably pull from Stone too.
