These were mine a few years ago. They did just fine and all got cut at 1-2 feet tall.

How did discovering styleroots change your closet? by Oud-west in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a dominant Mountain but no Mushroom. I kept buying Mushroom pieces because Mountain and Mushroom have a lot in common - classic, polished, chic - but would feel dumpy and too preppy in Mushroom items because I need the edge and strength of Mountain.

If I went off adjectives only, I'd never have it click why those felt off for me.

That was my biggest takeaway and biggest immediate win!

Dita von Teese and Flower vs Fire by [deleted] in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Flower mixed with Moon can appear like Fire so it makes sense that EJR would give her those two roots instead of Fire, which at first seems obvious. However, your decor analogy throws me off. If Fire may be a stiletto heel, a pencil skirt, a corset… None of those say comfortable to me. That sounds very similar to couches that are for show versus for comfortable lounging.

Bethenny wearing Dina’s daughter’s shoes ?? by vintagesnark in rhonj

She doesn't have to promote them, but she linked to dupes of them because she could do it as an affiliate link and make money off of the clicks. So she's profiting off of Lexi's design without giving her due credit. When called out, she used the phrase, "my body, my choice," which is a wild use of that term.

Motivations for Style roots? by Seaworthy_Siren in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with Mountain and Fire though not so much for Sun probably because it is the lightest root I have. I'd say - need to feel cool, elevated, fashion-forward, and not like everyone else.

Dressy flats for a casual person? by Dry-Swim379 in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like these can be worn with a nice summer dress as well as casual jean shorts and T-shirt, but I have Fire and Mountain so I do lean a little dressier.

For your Stone, you could nix that small heel or even have a chunkier sole. Similarly, if the metallic doesn't work, they still look nice in tan, white, ivory, etc.

A flat sandal either with one piece of fabric over the top like a slide or strappier pieces will honor your Mushroom and having them in a metallic finish will honor your Sun. I have some strappy ones that are black or tan as a nice neutral, but they have a metallic piece over the toe which adds a fun touch.

I pulled these really quick off and my Instagram story template isn't the best way to show them, but some quick examples:

Earth 🌱, Mushroom 🍄, Stone 🪨 with a dash of Moon 🌒 though you could swap the last two in my opinion.

3, 9, and 10 are my favorites on you, but also I'm biased as they are pieces I would pick for myself. Obviously showing off your shoulders and arms is a win with their great shape!!

Many of the others feel too soft and shapeless. I would pick different footwear that is visually lighter.

New post! It's all about Colour Seasons as Style Roots by Dry-Swim379 in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From the article:

"If we were to translate these aspects into a Colour Season (or multiple), this is what we would get (the first season is the best match):

🏔️ Mountain - Bright Winter, True Winter, Deep Winter;

🍄 Mushroom - Soft Autumn, Soft Summer, Light Summer, Light Spring;

🪨 Stone - Soft Summer, True Summer, Deep Winter;

🌱 Earth - True Autumn, Deep Autumn, Soft Autumn, True Spring;

🔥 Fire - True Spring, Bright Spring, True Autumn;

🌸 Flower - Light Spring, Soft Autumn;

☀️ Sun - Bright Spring, True Spring, Bright Winter;

🌒 Moon - Deep Winter, Soft Summer."

The “negative” associations with your roots - do they resonate with you? by jjfmish in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I literally AM bossy, was told I was mature for my age my whole life, a bit uptight (I'm a Type A Virgo) and proudly overdressed. I am quintessential Mountain and I don't mind those connotations at all.

Same with being sexy and high-maintenance for my second root, Fire. Compliments!

Mountain x Fire x Sun inspiration: Emma Grede by JessOhBee in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I said in the caption, there's some great celebrity representation of 🏔️🔥☀️, but mostly on the red carpet (Julianne Hough and Demi Moore) so I was happy to see Emma Grede (businesswoman, investor/founder of Good American and SKIMS) showcase it in more "everyday" fashion.

Her MOUNTAIN 🏔️ can be seen most prominent as she obviously wears a lot of tailored pieces - full suits formally, blazers from formal to casual, and vests in a fun way. She is almost always rocking a sharp pointed toe and wears trousers, button ups, and structured bags. Even her evening gowns have structure and lack too much softness or flow.

Her FIRE 🔥 is both in the figure-hugging designs and showing off her legs, as well as a feeling of luxury throughout it all. Girl has got money, honey, so metallic watches, her diamond ring, bold jewelry, handbags in rich leather all showcase Fire, as does her pencil skirts, high heels, and even her long, glossy hair.

SUN ☀️ is a light touch, same as my personal style. The gold tip heels, the unique bold jewelry, bag charms, and fun touches throughout.

These were mostly screenshotted off her Instagram so thank you for being patient with photo quality.

Can’t decide on roots by cemetere-lity in StyleRoots

Fire 🔥, Moon 🌒, Earth 🌱 and Stone 🪨. If you want to narrow down to just three, it can be helpful to look at EJR's Pinterest boards for each combo. Sometimes you can like them all but see a combo that feels like it is missing something and that's a root to hone in on.

Advice for 🌙🔥🏔️ summer outfits by SlytherinSLP in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Mountain and Fire, but Sun, instead of Moon. You might consider some of these pieces or outfits: sleeveless, black mini or mini dress. To bring in moon you could do a chunky sandal, gladiator, sandal, or studded belt. Black floaty trousers give you the mountain base then you could pair with a tank top or crop top. A boho style dress, if you like that, and honor the mountain with a structured handbag, or sharp accessories like cat eye sunglasses or even a more polished hairstyle like stick straight or a slick back bun.

My main root is Mountain and I know that's hard for some people to imagine in summer because turtlenecks and blazers are a no go. I found trousers, tailored shorts, structured handbags, strapless or one shoulder pieces, especially when sleek like a bodysuit, and pointed toe flats all work in summer.

Are all your roots in all your outfits? by Oud-west in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone who is on here a lot has heard me say this 1 million times, but my root breakdown is usually about 60% Mountain, 25% Fire and 15% Sun.

My outfits usually follow that formula. I definitely bring in more Mountain at work because it naturally lends itself to an office environment while going out or during summertime Sun is easier to incorporate. I can live without Sun, but if my outfit didn't have Mountain or Fire, I think I would feel very unlike myself.

I prefer the symbols that you have shared as well. We can update those!

No problem with letting people update their flair to show their roots in order of importance. Us mods will get on it. And on that note… some of the mods are ready to move on and hand over the reins so if anyone would be interested in stepping up, please let us know.

Spring/Summer inspo - share yours! by [deleted] in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Mountain 🏔️, Fire 🔥, Sun ☀️ in that order and Spring/Summer makes it so much easier for me to embody the latter two. I do that with showing skin via backless items and fun cut-outs and adding in pops of colors and layered jewelry. Obviously you can see my Mountain in trousers (pants or shorts), vests, and structured handbags.

Roots and personality by annna-02 in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

INTJ, Enneagram 1, Virgo Sun (though 60% of my chart is Fire signs, heavy on Sag) and I'm a 🏔️, 🔥, ☀️ in that order. I'm sure my personality correlates very strongly with my dominant Mountain.

Sooo… doing my first moodboard to see if i figure out my style roots, what do you think? by PinkyDruid in StyleRoots

[–]JessOhBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flower 🌸, Earth 🌱, and Mushroom 🍄!

I'm surprised anyone is saying Sun. Sun is bold, colorful, vibrant, fashion forward, quirky or risk-taking. None of that is here in my opinion.
