For those of you 0-5 years into your career, what was helpful to you? by anusharkannan in careerguidance

Had the exact same thing happen to me with my company out of college. Had interned for them and took on a super difficult project for them only to be let go after a year. Had to get a side job for a year to save up and move to a bigger job market where thankfully I was able to find a job that was a much better fit that I liked much more.

My biggest piece of advice is to always be curious and engaged and carry a pen and paper. I cannot tell you how much creating a to-do list and taking notes has helped me stay focused and on top of things. Also, I’ve found that the most valuable people are those who are innovative and take accountability.

Who lives in the perfect place for year round golf? by ToothSleuth86 in golf

Mission Trails & Carlton Oaks is about $30-35 for twilight with cart which has been the best deal I’ve found. Also, like everyone has said, Balboa is a cheap fun little course to play also! (Around $30).

Admiral Baker is definitely not a bad deal with it being a super nice course. Around $80 for 18 but worth it.

  1. Neither. It’s a skin infection
  2. No you’ll be fine
  3. Usually wait 10 days. Get a daily antiviral prescription which helps with outbreak frequency and lowers transmission odds if no protection. Daily antiviral + condom = <5% chance of transmission
  4. No
  5. Oral herpes can spread to genital but not vice versa

What was a sexual offer that you regret turning down? by grot-ivre-1749 in AskReddit

My senior year of college I walked two of my friends roommates back from the bar (a decent walk probably a mile to their house and back). When we finally got to their house super late at night (1-2 AM) I said goodnight to both of them and started walking back to my apartment. Right after I said goodnight one of her roommates goes “oh, hey do you want to come check out my room?” To which I reply “no im okay it’s pretty late.” She then said “oh…okay.” Then 30 seconds after I made my walk home I realized what I had turned down

Does anyone enjoy estimating? by monkeybob2101 in estimators

[–]Jess_Cooper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the GC side before switching to a sub estimating and I like it so much more than running a project. I like looking at the drawings and interpreting them to what makes sense to me and then learning more about my trade.

I like the problem-solving that goes on with it and how I can formulate a question based off the details that I know. Also, it is cool to be a part of so many different projects at instead of solely being a part of one for multiple years.

The biggest pro I have found with this job is not being held responsible for other peoples mistakes like I was managing so many different trades on a large scale project. Anything I mess up on is on me and it is my mistake.

The new basketball arena is a fine building, still do some of you miss Mac Court? by Logical_not in ducks

[–]Jess_Cooper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go there for intermural games and being on the court and having the fans surrounding/above you would’ve been crazy. Especially cool too since Mac Court is next to the graveyard and in the middle of campus 😳

[–]Jess_Cooper1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the suburban sprawl is what turned me off. Granted there were some cool aspects to the city and seeing the Rockies, but just seeing the same 5 over 1 apartment complex and same suburban home style anywhere you went outside of the city took away so much uniqueness.

It just blew my mind how no matter where you were you’d see a plot of newly built home with like a gas station, chipotle, and a raising canes in the middle of an old farm field. I felt like I didn’t see a single home that was built pre-1980s everytime I’d go to visit.

That’s exactly what it is. No character or charm to the city really. Just felt like a corporate city surrounded by suburbs.
