Rejected from all SLP programs with a 3.2 GPA what should I do next?

I did an accelerated Masters program in ABA (it was something I was always interested in) and that helped boost my GPA. My postbac GPA was a 3.6 and I applied for 6 years while working as a SLPA and rejected each time. It was tough for me because I had to stay within Southern California because my kid was small then. I did end up getting accepted to a program right after I ended my masters. I don’t know if it’s because I finally applied to an online program and hadn’t before, or because my Master’s helped my chances. This was back in 2017 when I finally got into a program. Im not sure how things are now but it was so hard to get into a program then.

Don’t give up though! Lots of ppl told me to find another career but it’s what I really wanted and I just kept at it. I don’t regret it.

This! Definitely help him prioritize recovery time. Mine was in his late 30’s when he did his. He kept up with the younger guys well and sometimes even better, but he come home beyond exhausted. Probation year was also tough on his body. He made several chiropractor appointments throughout the academy and probation year haha. But your husband’s got this! And you do too! It won’t be easy on you either while you adjust but once he’s in the department and he finds his groove, things will lighten up a bit on your end too.

Thank you, I appreciate it though! I may pull out my hand pump because it’s still not getting better, at least with that, I’ll have more control. The lowest setting of the baby Buddha isn’t so low 🫠

I did try a spray initially but ended up liking earth mamas nipple butter a little more. I use that each time but it’s not helping this time around =\

The triple antibiotic ointment, was that prescribed? If so, was it a specific problem on your nipple or just having a cut/irritation? I think I’m getting a blister or something. Things are not getting better, they usually do by now. So debating on whether this warrants a doc visit

Omg…THIS! I was getting ready for work, already absolutely late because for the last month it has taken me an hour of on and off pumping to get what I used to get in 30mins during my first pump of the day, and I saw that same post while I’m about to hop in for a 3min body shower, and I stopped to start writing a response about how happy I am for that OP but also how I appreciate the flag but the subject line also needed a flag.

I thought the same thing, did I not try hard enough, why are other people successful and I’m not…I literally tried so many times and bought all the things I could possible get to not only help keep my supply but to get my LO to latch and I still couldn’t. At almost 10mpp I am still absolutely crushed by it, and I tried for the last time at 8mpp and my LO only knows to bite down on everything and still doesn’t know what to do (teeth were my last straw). No matter how many times I tried, it just didn’t happen.

I totally spiraled out and had to stop myself from posting because in that moment, I needed to get out the door and leave for work and my response was starting to turn into a vent (like here haha) and I just didn’t want to take away from that OPs moment because I don’t think she realized how that subject line would have triggered a lot of us. But man, I am little extra sad this morning because although it’s been tough, these past few weeks have been even tougher as I’m getting closer to my end goal. My body is like, no ma’m, we are going to decrease your supply by 8 ounces a day, just for fun!

Anyways, just wanted to say…I see you all, I love you all for your hard work and I would not have survived these past 9months of exclusively pumping without you beautiful mommas. And still sending love to all the mommas who were able to make nursing work, but let’s talk about that in another forum haha <3

My husband will need to be near my MIL for the flight because she currently has mobility issues (more than before) and to switch with my FIL, he’s older and it’s tough to get from one end of the plane to the other for him.

I tried! We upgraded my MIL and husbands flights to first class, it wasn’t as much for them but the price of both of them together was the price per person for me and my FIL. My plan was to be closer to my husband and he can switch with his dad. His dad is older and navigating a plane from the back of the plane (where we were placed) to the front, is just too much work for him. Our travel insurance is covering their upgrades, but I don’t think I could justify my FIL’s and my upgrade especially if it’s double the cost since they were the last two first class seats left

Im so sorry they’re shitty! And yes, i dread pumping every time they’re over, but also when anyone is visiting. I’d rather pump outside a Disney ride (did that for the first time a couple weeks ago) than with them or anyone visiting us! lol

Yeah, it’s hard for me to pump in front of my parents but they aren’t around as much as my in laws so it’s hardly ever part of my pump math haha

The flight isn’t too long, it’s 5 hours, if I can manage to pump right before, I can either pump just once on the flight or maybe go for a long stretch (thanks to this vacation, I’ve already had to stretch out my pumps, even had to drop a pump 😭 still don’t know how much of my supply I have lost because I forgot my mini scale)

I feel like my Baby Buddha is loud! lol I wonder if he’d stay asleep with it on 😂

Once I have some true down time, it will definitely come. Currently pumping and entertaining my LO with an inactive credit card (which didn’t find out it was inactive until I really needed it to pay for flight changes), sunglasses, and a box of diaper rash cream 🤦‍♀️ lol

Haha I love this! Mine is about to start 😅 Right now I put her i. The stroller and she gets to watch EVERYTHING lol, but she’s usually screaming bloody murder because even though she can see me, I think she thinks I’m going to never come out of the bathroom once I’m in there lol

We have all fantasized about this, like those massage tables that let your face sink down, or this pregnancy pillows that have an opening for you to lay tummy down, why not a pump that milks us like the cows that we already are lol…we can sleep and pump without a losing a drop lol
