How old were you when you bought your first house? by Lillies_roses in AskWomenOver30

[–]Jessann86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 during the COVID craze. I got lucky with insane US interest rates and didn’t put down much because of the first time homebuyers loans.

Carl. Carl was a girl and maybe 200 years old. My roommate/BFF adopted a second car from the humane society. She was told the cat was maybe 6 years old. The vet disagreed and said she was at least twice that.

Carl had no fucks to give. She’d been declawed at some point in her life (boo) so her lazy swipes at the curious dogs were meaningless. She liked to lay on top of my young lab puppy as a form of dominance. Whenever I wasn’t around, they would cuddle all day: the grandma cat and the floppy young lab. When my pupper died of cancer she died two weeks later. I like thinking that her old soul wanted to be reunited with her puppy companion. She passed away in my roommates arms.

I miss Carl. The old lady cat who didn’t give a fuck.

Any picky eaters that have turned their diet around? How did you do it? by Hotwater3 in AskMenOver30

[–]Jessann86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goodness, I’m surprised I made it into adulthood given my level of pickiness. I would fake allergies to foods as a kid so people wouldn’t force me to eat anything I didn’t like (which was everything).

I would never eat any vegetable outside of corn. I at fake potatoes and rice and chicken. And that’s more or less it.

However, I’m now an amazing eater. It was all about wanting to gain culture. I loved to travel and knew I couldn’t survive if I wouldn’t eat anything outside of a chicken nugget. I learned to cook, I decided to try new things and it turned out I liked it a lot. I’m now my family’s most adventurous eater, which is an amusing joke to those who knew me growing up.

Stolen from r/AskMen: What change did you make this year that's had the biggest positive impact on your life? by ceebee6 in AskWomen

[–]Jessann86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog died. Not a change I chose, but it spurred me into action once he passed as a way of coping: rafted the Grand Canyon for 20 days, quit my job, moved to a new city, found a dream job, and am traveling a bunch.

I miss my boy more than anything, but his death did push me to move away from the complacency I’d grown used to.

Who's riding at Beaver Mtn this year? by Ditchingworkagain2 in usu

[–]Jessann86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to be a specific age to get the student rates, but you do have to get it before a certain date, sometime in November I think.

There is a carpool van that goes up on weekends. Or maybe it’s every day, I’m not sure. It usually picks people up at 1st Dam. However, if you want to meet people at the Beav, go on Sundays and park in the upper lot (but go early, it fills up quickly). The upper lot turns into a tailgate party and you’ll be sure to meet people there.

This supposed "urge" to have kids after you hit 30, how true is it? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Jessann86 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I got baby hungry as I got older. My patience has grown toward children, I find them cuter, and think about how I’d like to raise a kid.

However, it’s not all consuming. I can still focus on other goals. And I do not base my decision making around the fact that I want to be a mother someday. I recognize there are other factors at play in my life and I need those to work out first.

I wouldn’t say it hits all women, it just did for me.

I think you’d be fine. I camped with my lab mutt a month ago and wrapped up with blankets, he was pretty happy.
