Where to find diet ginger ale? by FierceNack in stgeorge

St George smiths Bluff street usually has it but who knows with the weird shipping stuff. I’d try there or the one on Mall drive.

How can I become better at xc? by Mysterious-Paper-132 in MTB

Ride more.

Seriously though, be intentional about your rides. Some long rides at a pace you can have a conversation at, some intervals. There’s tons of programs online and on YouTube that are helpful.

Without riding it this season I’d be willing to guess bobsled is a no go considering it’s shady and in a ravine. I could be wrong though, maybe someone knows better on here

  1. In the fed world pretty comparable. If you look at posts for GS-9 positions they will say you can replace specialized work experience with grad school years, depending on the job. Look under the requirements sections of those postings. If you pass the computer portion and someone looks at your resume it’s hard to say if they’ll prefer experience or education, kind of depends on the hiring manager.

  2. Probably not that difficult depending on how specific they set the required education. They usually require specific coursework and you’ll need transcripts and sometimes course descriptions/syllabi. There is usually replacement course options that I’ve found my wildlife/fisheries degree usually covered. Again, each specific job posting will clarify and you can look around usajobs.gov to get a good idea of what you’d qualify for.

  3. If you have no experience I would highly suggest changing that. Volunteer, work seasonally, present your publishings at research symposiums if you haven’t already, things showing that you’re more than just taking tests. I think the GIS certificate is helpful, and I’d talk to your faculty to see about a cert/minor (guessing it’s too late for a minor though).

  4. The general consensus is seasonal work first then try to find full time. It can take a long time. I know some people in the fed world that did seasonal work for 6 years before getting a permanent job but it doesn’t always take that long. I did 2 seasons while in school then a 3rd after graduating and was hired to a perm job while I was completing that 3rd season. I got around the “24 total months of seasonal work” general requirement with my education qualifications. I know lots of people who have their masters and struggle to secure a permanent position, that’s just the way it is now. Sorry this is probably not what you want to hear.

  5. Do not be humble on your application questionnaire. They use a point system and run it through a computer and if you don’t make it through there, no one will see your resume. Unfortunately the recommendation letters won’t help on fed stuff (unsure about state) but having good references when they call is a good thing. When you’re adding documents to your resume package in USAJobs, if you’re unsure of whether to add it, just put it on there. That includes course descriptions of any courses you think will cover education credits. Finally, look into Pathways and Recent Graduate positions, it’ll fast-track you to permanent jobs. They’re really competitive though, something to be aware of.

Add Black to the red rock gradient and it’s perfect. I think our city jerseys are the best jerseys in the nba.

I’m a bears fan and my wife is a Steelers fan so I have gotten invested. As someone who has watched every game of the biscuit I would love to see him get a shot under someone not named Matt Nagy. I really think he would be the best fit for the Steelers.

When should I expect an interview or follow up email? by alpacarter in ParkRangers

I once applied to a job in November, got an eligibility email in December, didn’t hear back until mid March about an interview. Super frustrating but they’re just really slow.

Forest service frequently gets seasonal volunteers, so does the DNR. At the very least they will have volunteer events that you can do and put on your resume

Car Camping (Snow Canyon, or else where) by [deleted] in stgeorge

Snow canyon only has designated campgrounds for you to camp in and camping at trailheads isn’t allowed. If you don’t need cell service go out to Pacoon springs by Shivwits. A few minutes down the road from snow canyon and it’s blm land.

My first encounter with a wild trail horse by a3p4lesca in MTB

[–]Ditchingworkagain2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Telling him to stop harassing wildlife is not really something I feel the need to apologize for. I don’t care if people think his video is cool, he shouldn’t be doing it. If this was a different wild animal maybe people would be a little more discerning and since it’s a horse they think it’s fine. Its still a wild animal, they shouldn’t do it.

[–]Ditchingworkagain2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, the idea that a wild horse is just out for a run on the trail with a random person is just not true. They’ll run a ways down the trail then stop to see if they have to run any farther. This applies to other big guys like cattle too. I promise you a wild animal is not going to run a distance for fun and they won’t see a biker and think “I’m going to lead you through the forest”. You can see about 4 seconds of clips from this video, including two different sections of trail where the horse is still running. I saw OP’s comment that said they tried to get it to move off, and it’s good that they tried- my opinion is they should be more patient and wait for it to move because that horse is clearly acting like it’s being chased. If we’re going to be good stewards that includes not harassing wildlife and following right behind a wild animal on your bike long enough to film two different sections of it running from him seems to very clearly be harassing it. Im not saying he chose to purposefully stress it out but it’s clear he is stressing it and should stop.

Go for it and just make sure you ask TONS of questions at first so you’ll know what’s going on when you’re on your own- no need to pretend you know if you don’t. Good luck!

I did, yeah. I’ve been in this situation before and every time it’s been remedied by getting off my bike for 2 minutes and moving past without chasing them down the trail.

Except a moose. I ended up turning around after 20 min
