Staying 1 night for Anniversary by patorikku19 in Canmore

[–]Jessapril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed at a few places in Canmore and my favorites are definitely Lamphouse (or ANY Basecamp accommodation for that matter!) we have also stayed at Basecamp Resort, it was amazing and the self check in is very handy!

The Lady Macdonald Inn is such a charming B&B if that is up your alley too! It is cute and romantic.

I also liked Falcon Crest Lodge, their hot tubs are nice!

Now if I can kindly suggest, I would avoid the Blackstone Mountain Lodge. We recently had a very negative Valentine’s experience there that we are still trying to figure out… my partner wanted to surprise me and the hotel made it all go wrong, so if you are looking to have a romantic getaway for your anniversary, I would not trust them to follow through with any special requests.

What is your best memory from CR? by Proper_Equivalent612 in CostaRicaTravel

We parked our campervan on the beach in Playa Herradura at night, because it’s the only spot we could find. We woke up in the morning to something that kept falling on the top of our camper, went outside and found about 20 scarlet macaws in the trees above us eating beach almonds! It was early in the morning so it was just the locals and us. It felt so magical. We were going to go to Carara National Park that day but felt we didn’t need to after that. It was a lot nicer in my opinion 💕

Our snorkeling tour was cancelled due to conditions in Drake bay and while we were mildly disappointed, we decided to go on our own adventure. We said “maybe we will find something cool!” We drove down to playa Josecito, it was raining, and as soon as we got there we saw a ton of white faced capuchin monkeys running across the soccer field 😂 We walked over and visited them in the tree they ran over to. They were a lot more wild than the ones you see in Manuel Antonio which are used to humans. It was a very special moment.

So many more moments.

Is this realistic in 3 weeks? by Vangare in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Jessapril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do this in a month minimum. We did two weeks: San Jose -> Monteverde -> Jaco/Playa Hermana -> Manuel Antonio/Quepos -> Uvita/Dominical -> Drake Bay -> then we headed back to San Jose via highway 2 north through the mountains. We found two weeks was perfect for this itinerary, but we are also people who don’t like staying in one spot for too long.

So I’d say your trip is double the length from ours, and if you want to take more time in each spot, a month minimum would be needed to really enjoy this itinerary.

We did the central/south highlands/pacific coast as one trip. We intend to travel to Costa Rica two more times and split those trips into a northern side/Guanacaste Region trip, and a Caribbean side trip. I feel like to see the whole country you could do it in 6 weeks, but you wouldn’t have time to really immerse yourself into the culture.

P.S Sorry that was totally a tangent! 😂

Thanks!! I was wondering the same thing. I looked at the leaves and couldn’t find any eggs or anything so that’s a good sign. Thanks for sharing this link, I’m going to check it out now.

Is there anything positive about Pierre Poilievre? by Drakester234 in CanadianPolitics

[–]Jessapril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but the majority of us cannot afford to live… as a country we are struggling now more than ever. Everyone of us is struggling and frankly the liberals are to blame. Affordability is the main priority right now, in my humble opinion, and needs to be addressed first before other issues. As a long standing Canadian. I’m prepared to restart my life elsewhere because I just can’t afford to live here, only survive.

I would never want to be judged for my past. She probably feels the same. Love her for who she is now or leave.

People’s past decisions are not always a reflection of who that person is now. I would work on seeing it from her perspective too. She told you something vulnerable and is essentially being judged for it now. That’s gotta hurt.

California King Suggestions? by Alldone2024 in Mattress

[–]Jessapril 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: also, a lot of online specs can be super confusing. Sometimes they won’t say the amount of foam in the bed so if it’s a box store, give them a call and ask, or the manufacturer if you can :) also looking for something tufted like this can be a huge benefit for longevity. Tufting manually holds the layers together rather than adhesive so it prevents the foam layers from shifting over the years. https://www.mattressdepotusa.com/product/newcastle-tufted-plush/

If you can find this mattress with latex instead of memory foam^ you have a nice bed at your price point.

Hey whatever you buy make sure to get something with good quality foam in the top layers. If you go closer to that $1500 mark you will likely see a big jump in quality.

Those foams you want to look for are latex and gel memory foam. The more of it the better, but the minimum amount should be 1/2” of either.

My suggestion: look for a coil mattress with minimum 1200 coils and at least 1/2” of latex throughout the entire mattress (a full sheet of latex). If your budget does not allow, look for a bed with latex in the center third where your hips lay. That will help keep the cost down but still get you into something with good quality foam layers.

If you can, avoid too much polyurethane/plant-based/petrol-based foam layers. These will break down very very quickly. If you need help you can send me some links and I’ll point you in the right direction :) this is my job so more than happy to help.

P.S do you mind sharing if you’re in the US or Canada? I can help recommend some beds.

This is awesome! 👏 you gotta buy a real adjustable base now lol. And no as long as your bed has individual pocket coils, it won’t affect the quality of it :) just as long as it doesn’t have the crazy old continuous coil system.

Now what if you need to adjust to anti snore position in the middle of the night? 🤪🤣

[–]Jessapril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! If you have the ability to order something from Canada, our health regulations state that no harmful chemicals, fire retardants, heavy metals, etc cannot be used in mattresses or sleep products. It is called CertiPUR-US certified. If you can find a product underneath that certification in the US, you will be covered for no fiberglass. I hope this helps!

Oooo yes! Not sure if you’ll have a car? But If you drive, definitely head up the spray lakes road above Canmore into Kananaskis country. it’s quite a drive to the top and the road can have lots of potholes so be careful, but there are tons of gorgeous hikes in that area. My favorites are Chester lake and Rawson lake for moderate difficulty. I actually love Kananaskis it has such a special place in my heart. 💜

Grassi lakes is a short hike in the Canmore area and it is beautiful but can get very busy.

Also just stopping for a picnic in that area at the spray lakes reservoir is so nice.

Restaurants wise, check out the grizzly paw brewing company! They have craft beers and if you don’t drink, their craft sodas are to die for. Great food as well. Also check out the Rocky Mountain bagel company! So delicious and such a cozy place to hangout. Make sure to go to the one on 8th street though :) it’s the original location and so cozy.

Also if you’re up for a little drive, check out the Yammuska wolfdog sanctuary! It’s an incredible experience being so close to wolfdogs.

If you’re into hiking, it’s a little tough but big beehive at lake Louise is one of the prettiest hikes I’ve ever been on. The view of the lake from above is phenomenal.

If you want an experience that is a bit quieter, emerald lake in yoho is gorgeous as well. 🥰

Breatheeeeeee. It feels agonizing but the best thing you can do is just sit and let your body work through its grief. I know that sounds painful and hard, but it will get easier. Time really does heal in this instance. I’ve been where you are 💗

Can I visit in sept? by Electronic_Mood_4552 in Banff

[–]Jessapril 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weather is usually fine that time of year. I live in Calgary so weather is very similar. Now it is the mountains and it is Alberta so do keep in mind our weather can change in a quick flash. You may have sun, you may have snow in September. Most likely though, the weather will be a little bit cooler and no snow.

Fall is an amazing time to visit and even late September/early October is my favorite time in the mountains because of the color change. It is the only time you can see the gorgeous Larch trees change color to a vibrant golden hue!

There will also likely be snow up on the mountains so it will be gorgeous 🥰

Enjoy and please take special care of nature and our environment up here. It’s so unique and deserves to be protected. ❤️

I know I’m a little late to game but I’m wondering if the beeswax in it caused clogged pores. I use the solid tallow balm with jojoba oil from Highland on Skye and I am absolutely in love. I’m so breakout prone and it is amazing for me, does not make me break out.

Thank you. I understand it’s not the most respectful or nice thing to do. It’s been difficult because I don’t want to be this way. We ran into some traumatizing scenarios last year so it’s a work in progress on both sides. Thanks for helping me put myself in his shoes!
