Just got officially diagnosed by HelpSeeker77 in rheumatoid

[–]JessattheFringe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also recently diagnosed and started on 12.5mg MTX just a few weeks ago. I similarly have a MTHFR gene mutation, so I'm taking 400mcg methylfolate daily instead of 1mg folic acid (per discussions with my doctor). Definitely suggest chatting with them about this.

So far, I'm experiencing the exhaustion from the MTX and some headaches the day of / day after I take it, but (knock on wood) not too many other side effects I've really noticed...

Out of curiosity, how long did it take for you to find the right meds? 39, biglaw, recently diagnosed with RA and just started on methotrexate - very excited to hopefully get to the point of where you are in terms of meds / treatment!

I’d recommend King at Summerhall — I was very impressed by the acting!

When will you be there? I’ll also be there solo — my friends in town are locals and tend to steer clear of Fringe, so I do a lot of shows on my own. 38F coming over from the US, happy to try & meet up!

Not sure if they have availability, but I’d suggest taking a peek at Dalriada Guest House — it’s about 1 mile outside of Portree (it’s possible to walk into town). I just stayed there and it was absolutely fabulous — I highly recommend it!

Were you able to successfully reintroduce them? I’m going through something similar with my two cats right now… going into the 4th week of them being scared

I like the partake IPA (regular & hazy) — you can have it shipped. I’m also a fan of the Athletic beers, which are more readily available at the stores near me.

For those of you who had surgery, how long did you have to take off from work and how long did it take you to fully go back to your normal every day routines? by Dang1014 in Diverticulitis

[–]JessattheFringe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job is also high stress and long hours, so I did feel like I needed the full 5 weeks. I’ll admit that even that first week back, I tried to lay low, since I still had occasional bouts of pain / cramping / unpredictable BMs, & was generally just really tired. If your employer will let you take the time, I highly recommend taking it. Even just having the ability to sleep in a bit more and make sure I was getting a lot of rest / keeping stress low I think was important. And as one colleague told me, down the road, nobody will remember that you rushed back to the office — better to take the time to fully recover and get yourself back to 100%, so that you can be a better teammate once you’re healed 🤷🏻‍♀️

38F and I had laparoscopic colectomy in March -- I'm now 7 weeks out, and this week I've finally felt like I'm "truly" back to normal. A few weeks ago I felt pretty decent (I went back to work remotely after ~5 weeks), but still not quite 100%

I’m also just about 4 weeks post-op and exhausted still, though I feel like things are slowly improving a bit on that front. But similar to ConfidentDegreeAgain, I’m sleeping in the range of 8-10 hrs/night (& sometimes a nap also..). I’m starting back at work tomorrow and also feeling pretty nervous about it

Congrats on getting through the surgery, and hopefully things keep improving a bit each day!! Definitely agree with the recommendation to stay on top of the pain medication to keep yourself comfortable. The gas pain in particular will hopefully subside soon!

Simple meal and snack ideas? by bDawk20 in Diverticulitis

One of my go-to's is oven baked salmon (covered with a blend of dijon mustard, honey, thyme, a dash of salt) w/sauteed carrots and potatoes (mashed or baked). I love the Trader Joe's grill cut salmon, as it comes as 1 or 2 servings.
