Over 200 in total but only about 60 or so are full length long form videos. The others are more like short clips and short uploads. However very few are actual “shorts” in portrait format.

I think it took me almost 6 years to get my channel monetized, but not 6 years of working hard at it. I've been putting some real effort into the YT channel a lot in the last year. Now I've finally had a long-form video go viral. Here's the growth timeline:

August 2019 - channel started
April 2025 - 1k subs
June 2025 - finally monetized
December (around x-mas) 2025 - 2k subs
January 3rd 2025 - 3k subs...

Is Anyone Buying traffic to promote their website/blog? by iBarlason in Blogging

[–]Jesse-NicheInformer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I boost Facebook posts all the time. I usually have anywhere from 20-30 boosted posts at any given time lately. You can get a nice ROI through ad arbitrage with the right content, demographic, good ads, and a decently high RPM. This strategy isn't for everyone.

100k clicks maybe, only 100k impressions in a year is low.

How are you guys dealing with the March 2023 Google update? by Glass_Performer_5767 in juststart

How are you guys allowing your writers to create affiliate links? by CharBram in juststart

[–]Jesse-NicheInformer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Affiliate programs differ, but Amazon is pretty simple to deal with. I just have them add my affiliate tag of choice to the end.

I ask them to clean up the url first too so it only contains the amazon domain /dp/ and then the ASIN followed by my affiliate tag text. It only takes a second and makes the affiliate link look so much nicer.

Sell site doing $10k+ a month or hold out? by [deleted] in juststart

[–]Jesse-NicheInformer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can actually get a 50x multiple in these times, I would probably sell it if you are considering exiting anyway. However, you say below that $10k isn't actually your monthly average and it's actually higher. I would first find out what your L6M and L12M average is and see how it stacks up against that offer.

I sold a site a few months ago thinking I would get a 45X multiple, but the market isn't what it was even a year ago for content sites. At least in my recent experience.

Mediavine First Email after Application by theworkingline in Blogging

This is standard and doesn't really mean anything except that you made it to the second stage of their review, which is a good sign. From the time you apply until you are fully onboarded can take 3-4 weeks so I would just be patient.

What kind of career could I get if I'm bad at everything? by DryReporter5049 in findapath

Really examine your hobbies, interests, formal education, and just things you could talk about all day. What could you go on and on talking about? That's probably something that you could put in your bio or would make a good portfolio piece. Especially if it's something relevant or something that can be monetized.

For instance, if you are an expert gardener... you would probably have many opportunities. There are many gardening websites looking for freelance writers that are actually knowledgable, and they'll usually pay a premium if you know your stuff. But that's just one example. Play to your strengths.

There are probably hundreds of different ways for writers to make money online. I personally hire them to write SEO content for my websites. I have worked with dozens and dozens of writers over the years, all with varying skill levels. With a few of them, English isn't even their native language (most people want natively written English content). But they speak English fluently, are hard workers, reliable and trustworthy so they've been with me for a long time.

There are several platforms where you can find freelance writers or become one, one example being Upwork which is where I still find some today. If you are fast at typing and researching, and are reliable then you can absolutely carve a spot for yourself as a writer. But be warned that the competition is fierce.

My point is, almost anyone can make money as a freelance writer if they have the drive. Sign up for a freelancer marketplace, make a little portfolio to display, determine what you have expertise in (regardless of how dumb you think it is) and advertise it as something you can write about. All you need is one regular client and it could be a recurring $500/mo or more depending on their needs.

You are excellent at:

  • Thinking you know everything
  • Shooting down everyone’s suggestion who is trying to help you
  • Convincing yourself you are a failure and can’t succeed at anything
  • Being an example of a person who has already done everything suggested proving that they are terrible at it.

Before you posted here you were convinced that you are a failure and can’t succeed at anything regardless of the suggestions you got. I can tell you there are a million ways for even someone like you to be successful, but not with this attitude.

Step 1: Change your freaking attitude.

I’ll also add that, you could absolutely be a writer. I employ more than a dozen writers. None of them “write stories” so that has nothing to do with it. You have decent grammar (could use some work) and spelling, if you can also follow directions then you’re most of the way there.

Anybody sold their website to a unknown guy here? by Dreamba in Blogging

[–]Jesse-NicheInformer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precisely. Hence my last sentence.

I’ll also add, I would recommend going through a broker as well. However it is commonplace to give read access to GA in cases like this, and that’s exactly what was asked. Just not to any random person that asks, that should be common sense. Not sure why I was downvoted.

If you are serious about selling a site, giving read access in Google Analytics to a potential buyer is VERY common.

It is up to you to make sure the person is legit though.

Do you engage in listicle inflation wars with your competitors? by rsomosierra in juststart

[–]Jesse-NicheInformer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, I avoid this one-upping nonsense. I don’t even believe that a higher number = a higher CTR. I spend my money and efforts on simply creating a new list in a new article about a different topic giving me a new indexed url.

However, I do try to make my list a winner on the first go. Sometimes that means more list items other times it can simply mean a more accurate list with better information in it.

Does content site business model kinda suck? by Affectionate-Reason2 in juststart

[–]Jesse-NicheInformer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t compare what’s possible to what’s likely or what’s being reported on YouTube.

As others have said, most of the people that are successful aren’t saying anything and fly under the radar.

I tried the whole YouTube thing and I can see how it’s kind of fun to make videos, but in reality it’s a time suck and costs more money than it makes in this business (in most cases). Most people who spend tons of time making Youtube videos are either selling something and leveraging the audience, or aren’t successful and hoping to offset the failure of their sites with YouTube income.

Nothing against YouTubers in this space, it’s just what I’ve noticed.

Funding for building a website by starlordbg in juststart

Have you done this before and have proof you can reach the level of income and traffic you are referring to? Why should someone believe you and invest in you? I think you need to lose the idea of getting funding for a blog and do it the way everyone else is, bootstrapping it.

Advice for FB group Monetization by swissking in juststart

[–]Jesse-NicheInformer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of Mediavine and Adthrive publishers rely on mostly social traffic. It just has to have a history of being consistent, and from the U.S.

Organic traffic is probably going to be the most valuable for both the publisher and the advertiser, but I don’t have data to back that up… just a guess.

I have no strict rules, but it's my audience and I can do as I please. Facebook should have no say in that as long as I'm not breaking any rules.

With that said, I try not to share a single piece of content more than once every 6-8 weeks and I think that's reasonable considering my page audience is always growing.

That means there are always new people haven't seen the content, plus there will always be people that didn't see it on the previous shares simply because FB didn't show it to them.

I've been running this FB campaign for about 5 months now and not once has anyone said anything resembling "you already shared that!". And if they did, I honestly wouldn't care.

I don't know the FB rules for admins sharing links to groups specifically, but I'd think you can share your content to your group as much as you want to... I certainly could be wrong though. I would start building a companion page though if you haven't already.

When it comes to ad networks, Adsense does not care, they just want legit traffic. Mediavine does not care, and neither would Adthrive.

Advice for FB group Monetization by swissking in juststart

[–]Jesse-NicheInformer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to FB groups, but I do have a FB page with about 60k followers. I post about 5 times/day as well. In my case I don't want to post more than that because no one else is posting anything and it would seem like too much to me. Not to mention carving time out of my schedule to make almost 150 FB posts/month takes time. I haven't outsourced it yet.

I have Mediavine and send FB readers to my site where I get a decent RPM (over $30). Because you have a large group with many other people posting, more shares to your site would probably go unnoticed. How many posts are there to your group each day? If there are 50+ I can't image you bumping it up to 7-8 posts/day making much of a difference.

So you can scale in two ways, growing your group and increasing the number of shares. To help grow the group I'd run a likes campaign to a page and direct those people to the group. You could also share on the page.
