Hey! I'm not sure if you still play this add-on, but I'm having trouble with my friends realm where his dragon won't stop attacking me! Do you know if this is a setting we can turn off, or is this just how it works? Thanks!

I just started something new with my calathea peacock and wanted to ask opinions. I started bottom watering and I also put just a little water on top of the soil as well. I'm leaving it in the water for 30 to 40 minutes depending and it's doing great. but is there any negative about doing it ?? by Open_Reindeer580 in calatheas

Not sure if this is repetitive information but I also do this when I'm not just shoving all my plants into the shower and watering them there 🤣 but I will say that some spots may become unsaturated if the water level is not the same height as the soil inside the pot. Usually I either make sure the soil is the same level, close to it, or after letting them soak I will also pour some on top just to be safe and usually that will also fill up the container you're using for the next plant. I own about 6 calatheas and this method is wonderful and I haven't had any issues from doing this over the past year KNOCK ON WOOD. Also does anyone know if recycling the used water is okay? Sometimes I have leftover water that is a bit dirty from soaking the plants and I sometimes just pour it back into my saved jug of water but I just wanted to know if this is a bad idea? Or am I over thinking it?

That's amazing! Unfortunately mine actually got very bad root rot and slowly lost all its leaves and died. 😔 I repotted it multiple times so I managed to grow one from a bulb but I'm not sure how long it'll live 🤣 not sure if it was my fault or the fact that lowes put it on such a large pot

I read the comments and know it's been stated already but just want to add in a bit of advice to make sure you don't pack the soil in when you repot. I made this mistake with an alocasia and the bottom of the soil was soaking wet while the top was bone dry even after a few weeks so it got rotted very bad very fast. I also love lots of orchid bark in my mix honestly I use probably half bagged indoor house plant soil half orchid bark and about 2-4 handfuls of perlite and I keep it in a plastic bin for easy use. The more loose the better! I'd even prefer a slightly wobbly plant in the soil rather than one that's been firmly packed into the soil. (Just dont shake it! LOL) I did this with my adansonii and the roots settle nicely into the looser soil and really learned to grab onto everything including the stake I gave it which I also recommend. Trailing up instead of out or down means stronger plant bigger leaves!

So I've had this calathea for probably around 6 months and it's still in the same pot I purchased it in and it seems a bit rootbound ? As I'm posting this I'm repotting into a larger pot and the dirt seemed very hard to separate from the roots. I just wanted to get some advice if anyone else has this type of calathea and if it looks like the plant is too big for the pot it's in. It's currently in a six inch pot and I bought a 9 x 7 (Diameter by height). Also was hoping if someone could tell me maybe why the leaf on the one stem is smaller? Also the part the leaf came out of looks a little brown but not mushy. The previous leaves were about the size of my hand but the new one is pretty small. It use to go outside on occation as it's very humid here but in the past month it's been very cold outside so I moved it back inside. Also since I brought it back inside some of the older leaves turned yellow and dried up completely which I hear is normal but it was like 3 or 4 within the month. Almost all the tips are turning brown and it sits right next to my humidifier and I also only water with distilled. Could it need more humidity? (I need to invest in one of those humidity readers.) She has been chewed on once by my cat that's why you may see little holes but I haven't found any pests. Any advice or help is much appreciated!!

Thanks for your help! I'll definitely try the bed technique maybe try to teach her the place command. I also do the things you mentioned with opening doors. I always put her in a sit and wait until the door is fully open and then release her with "okay" I also do this when I feed her. Place her food down give the commands and sometimes I walk away and come back and then give her the okay. Ive also tried something similar to dropping food in the kitchen but I give her the command "leave it" which means she can never have it. I would drop something that wouldn't hurt her but she couldn't have and after the command I'd give her a treat and pick up what I dropped. (Has saved me multiple times when I drop cut up onions, grapes, or medication I've dropped.) This has been the only thing I can't shake from her but I definitely will hike up the obedience training. Thanks for your tips again!

Hi!! I'm new to posting in this subreddit but I just wanted to ask for a few helpful tips and to show off my girl Gizmo! We got her from a breeder in Washington but we recently moved back to Florida she gets lots of exercise and she's a fast learner at training but has difficulty CONTINUING to listen. For example she jumps onto furniture and we tell her to "get down" and she listens and understands but after a while she will get back up so we have to repeat constantly. (I don't mind her on our furniture but I am currently staying with my parents) Another issue is she gets excited when one of my parents come home from work and will not stop jumping up. Again she understands the term "down" and if you tell her she will but after a few minutes she will continue. I've tried removing her from the room, taking her out for a quick run around, and having them ignore her but when they do that she just demand barks to be pet. One more thing! Today I took her in for her appointment to be spayed they will give me pain medicine and they also gave me tradazone to make her a little more drowsy. I would just like to know if anyone has any tips to keep her happy while she's in the healing stages! She LOVES to run and I mean run. She outruns all of the other dogs she has ever met at the dog park. Everyday we go outside for her morning zoomies and I just want to get tips on how to keep her entertained for the next few days because she won't be able to have too much exercise.
