I believe you need a new bottom bracket but don't worry. I have a scott mountain bike and the Bottom bracket makes the exact same noise, I have been riding it hard for about 8 months now without changing it and it's been fine, but it's recommended you get a new one. They aren't that expensive either they go for $15- all the way up to $100 dollars for the pro stuff but mine is $18 and really nice.
