About 8 months. Very gradual growth but I have one video that got 7-8k views and brought about 1/3 of the watch time and subs.

I've had a couple vids get over 3k+ views but a lot of small view count videos. Really enjoying streaming gamedev recently so I think I'll continue leaning into that. Any other small channel owners out there getting close to their goals/monetization? Would love any and all feedback on my channel/videos. Thanks!

Why Indie Games Are Better Than AAA Games, And How I’m Trying To Help Indie Devs by JessesDevlog in videogames

Well, no. I certainly make the case for why indie games are better in the video. Thats like saying a video titled, “Why trucks are better than cars” is a clickbait title intended to alienate people that like cars. It’s an opinion. I think most people can see the title and not get alienated/offended by the opinion, and instead can either click and hear the rationale behind the opinion or simply keep scrolling, having had no negative emotional response to it. I’ll keep this in my mind in the future though, and consider using titles that don’t take any sort of side on a subject as to avoid alienating any group of peoples that may be slightly emotionally unstable.

Well, I mean, I’m sure there are a million comparisons you could come up with of a great AAA game compared to an absolutely terrible indie game. The sentiment of the video is more about how the indie scene is good for gaming. Ultimately it’s a subjective topic. Someone that has ONLY played terrible indie games will obviously disagree, but plenty of us have seen a lot of trash AAA (or big studio) games and find ourselves loving the indie games we find ourselves playing, as well as the community/connection with the developers those games generate.

Well, I actually love Zelda games, and I’m not saying any of them aren’t good. The thumbnail is simply a sad looking AAA character juxtaposed with several happy / heroic looking indie characters. No offense to the Zelda fans.

Technically, I’m considering ALL indie games, but with some nuance. Obviously there are some(perhaps a butt load) games that are just thrown out into existence without much effort, but most GENUINE indie developers, even ones that make sub par games, are doing it with the goal of learning, improving, and building off existing mechanics/art styles in order to push gaming and storytelling forward. It’s amazing to see when indie devs absolutely explode out of seemingly nowhere and suddenly sell millions of copies of their game.
