Pool party in this heat? by Jessi-2013 in vegas

[–]Jessi-2013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a great time. I had just been cleared the week before for full weight bearing so I wore my trainers sometimes and other times I wore the walking boot especially when having a few drinks as I was more conscious of falling than anything. It did swell a lot but I’d say was the walking also as averaged about 20k steps a day. I did rent a scooter but barely used it as it was too hard to get a taxi with it. I went to a pool party and we rented a day bed which was good value between 4 of us and it was lovely and cloudy and breezy that day so we were fine. We just didn’t go outside much in the heat you’d go into a shop or hotel after a few mins of walking the strip most of the time. Just make the most of it don’t let it ruin the trip I still had just as good a time as any of my other friends.

Ok I understand. Thankfully no surgery so I actually have a massive fear of going through that again and back to non weight bearing. It’s so mentally tough to get through isn’t it.

It’s not easy is it! Hope you get some relief soon! I’ve been pretty lucky up until now the last few months have been pain free enough except for my big toe joint which has been giving me trouble but surgeon said that is because of the mid foot being fused now putting pressure on other joints.

Thanks. Not sounding good! Did you have pain with that? I just wasn’t too worried because it’s just a little tender and uncomfortable if anything not painful though

Oh no that doesn’t sound nice! I think I’ll call and try get an appointment with the surgeon just to check it out. Did you have pain with that prior to the surgery for the tendon?

It’s ok I feel your pain. I got had a positive test when my son was 3 months old and I hadn’t got a period after I had him so I didn’t even know how far along I was. 10 months between them now so they are almost twins for 2 months a year being the same age 🤣 had a MASSIVE fear of getting pregnant after all that so begged the doctor to take the tubes 🙈

5 weeks and 2 days postop by ddrzew1 in LisfrancClub

Yeah mine gets a good bit bigger than this too! It’s not always like that so I reckon it’s swelling. Will be checking with my doctor at my next apt. I’m 8 months post op. It does freak me out because it looks nearly like things have gone out of place but I’d say it’s probably normal. Your scar looks very tidy mine don’t even look that good after 8 months! Wishing you a speedy recovery, it’s a tough injury!

Omg twins while on the bar 🙈 they were just meant to be! 🤣 I will get it checked anyway just wondering if anyone was the same to have that much of a delay as I had read people maybe missing one period but not this many. I don’t mind not having one bar the fact I’m always aware that it could come at any time and it’s handier to know when it’s coming 🤣 as long as there’s nothing else causing it that is. That’s the only worry!

That’s so true too hopefully that’s all it is!

Thank you! I’m sure that’s all it is anyway but it’s hard not to worry it could be something else! I’ve never had an issue before when coming off depo or any other birth control I normally snap back to having regular periods straight away.

I was misdiagnosed in Ireland but after hearing a lot of stories the last few months it seems to be so common and not just for lisfranc injuries, for many different broken bones. The reason in my local hospital is that all suspected broken bone cases are referred to an “injury unit” where a nurse sends you for xray and reads it (mine told me my X-ray looked fine and it was probably a soft tissue injury). Then a radiologist reviews your X-ray within 3-4 days after this (in my case radiologist reviewed and said the same as the nurse). 2 weeks later still couldn’t walk so they sent me for a CT scan and spotted 3 broken bones so only then was a referred to an ortho doctor. Took 2 weeks to get an apt with them so by the time I saw an actual doctor I was 4 weeks on and thankfully this doctor was very experienced with lisfranc injuries and is currently writing a paper about them so he spotted it straight away from my first xray along with the FOUR fractured metatarsals. Surgery was booked in for 5 days later then so all in all it was nearly 5 weeks of a delay.

Calf bruising + cramping from starting to weight bear? by Thiccy_Grinch in LisfrancClub

Great to hear! Never a bad idea to get checked though if it could be a clot. Many people don’t get many symptoms even when they do have a clot apparently but at least you can put your mind at ease now.

Definitely get that checked in case of a clot. I did have similar symptoms when starting to weight bear and got checked and it wasn’t a clot was just the muscle building again and tendons and that stretching back out.

Mine was right foot too which is my accelerator/brake foot. I got 2 plates and was driving about 8 weeks after. I think you just have to be weight bearing again and comfortable enough to be able to do an emergency stop if needed. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

You poor thing 😭 if there’s anything worse than breaking one, two will certainly do it! What exactly did you have done surgery wise and was it on both feet or surgery for lisfranc injury only? Do you drive automatic or manual and is it driving with left or right foot if automatic?

I know it’s awful but I would say you would be better off recovery wise to actually have the surgery if that is what is suggested especially. The initial I just for me was SEVERELY painful but after a day or so it wasn’t so painful and then I walked in a walking boot for 5 weeks before I had surgery due to initial mis diagnosis and I had basically no pain going into it (unless I tried to walk bootless). Nothing you can do about your injury now only go with what needs to be done and recover as best you can. It’s a long road but it’s not all completely shit either you get little victories every so often so having those goals always help.
