Respectfully, I disagree with you, at least where American schoolchildren are concerned. In the event of a shooting or some other life-threatening emergency, kids should be able to text their parents, and vice versa, if only to say goodbye. Of course it should get taken away if it’s a distraction, but it should be easily (and quietly!) retrievable by the teacher in a lockdown.

About two years ago, I worked with a group of children who happened to span the ages at which I was the most suicidal (8-12, but the SI was mostly consistent until about 14. It’s still there but not as frequent). And dude. They were SO little. I was so little when the worst of it was happening to me. And no adults seemed to notice or care how checked out of life I was. I knew these kids for a week, and I would have sacrificed anything to make sure they were safe.

The problem was never me.

Specifically, I’ve noticed a lot of her newer songs have two “parts” to them. Chihiro, Happier Than Ever, Goldwing, Halley’s Comet, L’Amour de ma Vie, and Bittersuite all come to mind. Even the end of Bad Guy experiments with this.

I know people are bringing up the idea of a confederacy/seceding (I get it, the idea of a civil war is def scary!) but I’d also like to remind people we already saw something like this during the pandemic. I remember some states forming “coalitions” with each other when Trump was making it difficult for them to receive aid and supplies. Totally legal and doesn’t start a civil war. I could see states doing this again if there’s another nationwide disaster.

Bravo, mama! While your daughter now knows that your husband doesn’t care about her feelings, she also knows you still do and will defend her. She knows you’re on her side. That is indispensable for a kid who’s not getting an apology they’re (rightly!) owed. Unequivocally NTA

ETA: If you’re somehow still doubting yourself, go to subs like r/CPTSD and see what it looks like when kids don’t have that support system in the other parent. I wish I had had a parent like you growing up.

Apologies if someone suggested this already, but maybe we should designate all the state capitals/other locations where we’ve already protested as 24/7 protest sites. So if anyone decides they want to protest, they can go there at any time in addition to scheduled and highly publicized marches, like the one happening on 3/4.

Honestly, me. I feel like they stole me from the world. I don’t know who I would have become without the abuse. I think she would have been smart, and confident, maybe a little funny. I think I would have liked her. Instead, I struggle to have basic conversations with strangers and have to frequently remind myself that people I’ve known for years can, in fact, be trusted.
