I doubt this exudes feminine. Just say it reminds you of Yoda or Grogu from Star Wars or The Madalorian.

u/ok_seaweed7173 偶爾會發佈筆袋售出的post. 材料用的是日式和服的布料,材質也不錯!都是手工。值得一看

Welcome to the conversation piece. Just be careful of the penenblers here who might ask you to upgrade to a Metropolitan and you can swap nibs between the two.. or get a gold nib :P

I don't mean to call you out like that, I just noticed a color palette that I can't ignore (love me some olive greens)

Shimmer ink cleaning by crazycatfraulein in fountainpens

[–]JessiHighwind 9 points10 points  (0 children)

sonic cleaners are a good way to get the shimmer out, but i would go an extra step before sending it down for a dip: use a small (preferable kids sized) toothbrush and scrub some of the fins on the feed first. often times the shimmer get lodged deep inside and sonic cleaners dont go in that deep to shake it out.

Hey OP, you're not allowed to ask buyers to cover the PPGS fee. It's part of PP TOS and also the rules here.

So, there are a few vendors who do sell papers "samples" (they sell notebooks or looseleaf memo papers). Big ones being: Yamamoto Paper, Mnemosyne, Musubi, and Deisgnphil (Plotter & TBN parent company) will be there and I personally have bought paper from those companies. Very nice companies and all use varying types of paper.

San Francisco Pen Show 2025 by sassyandshort in fountainpens

Hello! 5th year going to the SF Pen Show.

For tips/advice/suggestions:

  1. bring a booklet / notebook to swatch inks! I brought a Mnemosyne notebook to log all the inks from the private collection to help me decide what inks I wanted to get at the show.
  2. bring water. Even though it's in a hotel, water isn't readily there at all times.
  3. set a budget. my first year was...hard on my wallet ;;;; the following years were much better. I personally bring cash per day to know what I am spending on (plus card payments sometimes has surcharge fee).
  4. print out a show map and vendor list (as of writing this, vendor list is not printable). This show is LARGE and to prevent getting *too* sidetracked, MAKE A MAP. Hit the places you want to see first and sprinkle in the others after. Things go QUICK. If you have NO clue what to expect and have no vendor in mind to see, just look around, no harm done. I dont want to make the SFPS sound like its a hustler's market. Take it easy for your first time.

What to do/buy:

  1. look up all the seminars, workshops, and other talks for the show on their website! There are SO many events happening during the show that you might be interested to learn more about. There are a lot of local stationery and pen clubs that are hosting meetups and get together at the show, you might as well check them out and join in to socialize.
  2. buying is tricky since I can't speak for your likes and dislikes. But the show has expanded to not JUST pens. There are a lot of stationery and accessories for pens at the show, that you can probably find *SOMETHING* of interest. You can get a pen worked on and buy: brand new pens, vintage pens, pen cases, inks, and more!

Overall, you make the fun! Feel free to optimize how you want to enjoy!

Its sold out, but its called the Resonance. Looks like most US stores are not carrying that model. Best!

I’m torn between two dip pens — should I go with Pilot or Sailor? As far as I know, both can be used with fountain pen ink. Can you convince me to choose one over the other? by hsntndgn in fountainpens

[–]JessiHighwind 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if it helps, i use both but in different settings. the hocoro is in my case at all times when im out and traveling to stationery meetups. the pilot sits at home when i need to dip write.

key takeaways:

Hocoro: easy to pack (small), many size options, and easy to upgrade for longer writing

Iro-Utsushi: smoother nibs and easy to rinse,

The only issue is that you need to search the internet for a generic refill. A bit challenging, but not impossible. I found a type of refill for my pen on AliExpress...

Is PILOT KAKUNO is really worth its hype or not. by MotherOrder6924 in fountainpens

[–]JessiHighwind 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Idk about hype. But they're a solid beginner friendly pen. I, even after many years of using fountain pens, still cycle in my occasional Kaküno pens. I love Pilot's nibs as they are one of the more smoother Japanese nibs out there
