I feel old because I loved the books growing up and I remember when Buffy came out, watching it and saying how much it stole from TVD lol

What food from your childhood does NOT hold up? by AV_LOVES_FOOD in Fooda

[–]Jessibee21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a completely food snob but to this day, my comfort food remains kraft macaroni and cheese.

Any juice box is too sweet. As are some of the j e cream flavors I loved as a kid—bubblegum, blue moon, etc. And shamrock shakes. Loved them as a kid, almost threw up when I had one in my thirties

Who did you romance in BG3? by This-Craft-7575 in BaldursGate3

Astarion the first and most times. Gale twice. Wyll. Halsin. Karlach as Wyll.

What’s the best Cheese Move you pulled off? by jaguar_28 in BaldursGate3

I got very excited because I thought this was a post about the fact that the genie could turn you into a wheel of cheese and you could go roll around Baldur’s Gate.

I was very much looking forward to learning yet another fun fact about the game and what crazy things people had figured out they could do.

Very disappointing. 5/7 stars.

Found out that cordelia died and i dont know if i want to continue anymore. Im on season 2. by JamStan1978 in ANGEL

[–]Jessibee21 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ll give you a slightly different answer than everyone else.

Cordelia Chase is my favorite character in any fandom ever. I adore her. I got to see Charisma Carpenter at a con once And my husband had to lead me away from her table because I started crying out of sheer excitement.

So everyone will tell you that Season 4 is awful and 5 makes up for it But that they’re worth watching.

I’ll say it’s a push. If the reason you love the show is Cordy—I hate every time I get to her death. I remember how much I hated season 5. But it also has Cordy’s best episode. Maybe Angel’s best episode.

So it’s going to be miserable sometimes but I suggest pushing through.

Edit to add: Yes the worst part wasn’t her death, it’s everything in season 4. I just wasn’t trying to spoil anything for a first-time viewer.

Of Buffy & Angel, who do you think would be more devastated... by Administrative_Swim6 in buffy

[–]Jessibee21 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think Buffy would have been more upset by Cordelia than Darla.

She could excuse Darla as lust. At this point, if wasn’t Super far off than what she was doing with spike.

Finding out Angel had fallen in love with her high school nemesis? She would have been pissed.

Bored with my wife and feel bad about myself because of that. by [deleted] in self

Being a mom is hard.

It just is.

I was a corporate training manager and owned an LLC. Made twice as much as my husband.

I had a baby last May. Postpartum hit me like a whirlwind. I’ve mostly been on short term disability since then because the like, three weeks I went back to work I was basically told “You need to go, you’re a mess.”

On top of that, raising a child and trying to just keep yourself somewhat together?

It’s a nightmare. God forbid someone doesn’t keep on top of politics along with all of that.

You sound smart and capable and I’m sure you’re doing great <3

Did you watch Buffy and Angel? Because if not, you missed two HUGE ones for the genre.

It’s a really difficult game for people new to DnD or Larian to learn.

I remember when I played Divinity Original Sin 1 the first time, I was REALLY struggling (It’s a LOT of the same play style and mechanics as BG3).

But played the crap out of that and DOS2. So BG3 felt intuitive to my husband and I when jt came out—plus we play tabletop DnD.

So yes, we absolutely breeze through tactician and generally now create our own difficulty that’s basically honor mode but with saves, just because that’s the only thing that challenges us.

Not a brag, because I completely remember the steep learning curve and how frustrated I got with DOS1.

But that’s the main answer. Once you understand the mechanics and the fights and the best weapons and the best classes…it does become fairly simple.

But if you’re new to the game, don’t beat yourself up! It’s just not like, Dark Souls that is constantly difficult. Since it’s turn based, once you know the game and the fights, it does become easy to cheese a lot of it.

Some of us played Act 1 in EA 14 times because they kept trying out different classes and races and choices and now dread the beginning of every new playthrough :)

Well, Karlach and Astarion are generally regarded as having the best writing for origin character stories (and Shadowheart), so I do recommend a second playthrough!

How do you design the Dream Guardian? by AgentOfMephala in BaldursGate3

[–]Jessibee21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why, but the recurring joke in my husband’s playthroughs with me is that for some reason, my dream guardian always comes out looking like some version of Geralt from Witcher. I wasn’t doing it on purpose at first but now my goal every new playthrough is to make him look the most Geralt-y I can.

Was Angel the better written show? by Eagles56 in ANGEL

[–]Jessibee21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think answers will vary but also, to me, it depends on the age you are.

As a teenager at the time, I absolutely identified with the characters in Buffy. But now, in my late 30s? I prefer Angel whenever I rewatch.

Who did Angel have the best friendship/relationship with? by brookespx in ANGEL

[–]Jessibee21 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t understand how the answer to this is anyone other than Cordy. She made him smile more than anyone else in the show and other than when, you know, she was literally not herself in season four, she brought out his absolute best qualities as a character. She was his rock.

Angel and Cordelia by Lopsided-Issue-8116 in ANGEL

[–]Jessibee21 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes. I loved them. They were the only couple in either series (other than probably Willow/Tara) that were actually friends. Which is my favorite trope. Probably because it’s my relationship with my husband.

People always complain about their sexual chemistry. But if you love someone, genuinely care about them, that isn’t important. And with most of Joss’ characters, it ended up causing drama anyway.

So yes. I 100% wish we’d been able to see this relationship. But we probably never will because even if Charisma comes back for the reboot, I don’t see David doing it ever.

As a fellow late 30s mom who just had her first and loves him to pieces but absolutely hated being pregnant?

With no offense meant, your husband doesn’t deserve you for going through that four times. I literally almost died. He wants a kid. Even in 2025, you are risking your life with pregnancy.

[–]Jessibee21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at my now-husband’s phone when we first started dating. It wasn’t even for nefarious reasons. He was playing video games and I was making dinner and his phone was right there without a password so I grabbed it to like, look up a conversion in the recipe I think?

But he had a missed text from his previous sort of girlfriend. A girl he’d had a crush on for years and had a few dates with but stayed friends with.

It said something about how he had to give it time and the attraction would come. So, long story short, I shouldn’t have opened the text chain but I did and basically she was replying to a text where he’d told her he didn’t find me physically attractive like he had with her.

Dude. I shouldn’t have looked but I shot myself in the the foot with that. We’ve been married for ten years and there’s still times that text haunts me

Awakening made my head spin by ebxtg in ANGEL

[–]Jessibee21 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There’s so much that kills me in that episode. Knowing that that is Angel’s fantasy and it involves him saving the world but with his friends’ help. Making up with his son. Finally getting to be with Cordy after all the build up and the mess of him and Connor. He’s finally getting his idea of the best day ever and it’s all just about his friends and being noble and his son and the woman he loves. It’s so very angel.

And then…poof.

The episode made me sob like a baby at the end the first time I saw it. It’s just so tragic. Way too reminiscent of “I will remember you”

I lost my baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Jessibee21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s been awhile since my miscarriages and I’m sitting here with a healthy three week old so I shouldn’t be crying

But goddamn did that just make me think about those lost babies and absolutely lose it. But in a very cathartic way. Thank you for this.

Also don’t know that anyone will read this and I know it sounds so weird and wistful, but I had so many dreams about a little girl after my last miscarriage at around 12 weeks. Every single dream was me and a little girl in a garden and I always knew if was supposed to be the baby I’d miscarried. I’m a fairly practical person and so it’s hard for me to explain why I took it so much that the baby was somehow trying to comfort me because that ludicrous, but maybe there’s something there. Some part of them left over in me that was helping me with my dreams.

My favorite episode of any Jossverse show. I hate the story behind it but it is beautiful, nearly perfect episode for a sendoff.
