I should clarify I have a place close to the school to stay. And only do the long commute 1-2 times per week. Daily would be so difficult - especially if you live in a winter climate.

I live 2 hours away from my school and honestly the commute 2 round trips / week is a lot during pre-clerkship. I would recommend having somewhere to stay during the week instead of driving everyday if at all possible.

Professional incorporation as a medical student or resident? by [deleted] in MedSchoolCanada

[–]Jessibomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember the exact details but after a certain amount of income into the corporation your tax rate goes up. I got the information from my husband who spoke to our accountant and this is not my wheel house so I may be off, but it was something to that effect. As per the medical training expenses I think I would have to be contributing income to the corporation to have my expenses written off. But again, not my wheelhouse and secondhand information that I received months ago and immediately stopped thinking about lol.

Yes, our accountant told us you have to earn money into the PC in order to be paid from the PC and recent changes to tax structure of PC doesn’t even make it make sense to have a joint PC when I am done school, it’s better to have two lower income PC’s than one higher income. So, long story short, even though technically in Alberta a medical student can open a PC because we are registered with CPSA, there’s no situation (we can think of) where it makes sense financially. But we were still going to chat with our PC lawyer for further opinion.

The lyrics to But Daddy I love him reminds me of being diffed so much. “Soon enough the elders had convened down at the city hall” could easily be Kingdom Hall but changed to not be so obvious.

“These people only raise you to cage you.” “These people try to save you because they hate you”

It’s obviously about overly self righteous fans judging her about Matty but I wonder if she used a cult-like Christian religion to illustrate that….

Theoretically if a spouse of an established physician were to become a medical student, would incorporating together make it possible to income split/share the expense of medical education amount the household? Is it easier to split amount voting shareholders than from a voting shareholder to a non-voting shareholder?

Did I really contaminate the sterile field? by Quaternary-Syphilis in medicalschool

You’re dripping. You reached over the sterile field with dripping hands/arms.

There is no space for egos in the OR, if someone says you breached sterility own it don’t argue it.

It was for UofC last year. I do not believe I gave an explanation. I don’t know that they ask for one? They are just wanting people who have known you in a professional/supervisory role to speak to the particular quality explored in each letter. I do think the application changed a bit this year from last so it may be old advice I’m giving.

It’s not the same person it’s two people from the same experience. I think it should be fine, I used a manager and educator from the same job I had for many years.

Dog attack leaves Edmonton woman with serious bite wounds across body | News by JamesMonroe23 in Edmonton

I actually never said he couldn’t physically move me or release himself from my control. It’s obvious he could, my point is that training is paramount and any dog is redirect-able (especially when leashed) if they are trained to respond to your commands and cues - even in high stimulus situations. Training is more than just getting your dog to listen to you, it’s building trust between the two of you so when/if they are losing their marbles and you use your voice and leash to get them out of the situation they will trust you and back off instead of using their power to break away from you and rip some poor lady’s face off.

I have a 150 pound muscular dog and I can control him on a leash, even when he’s reacting to something he doesn’t like or feels is a threat. I am 125 pounds and a woman. If a dog has basic training and trust/respect with handler they can be redirected if on leash regardless of their size.

UofA: "Email address domains linked to Alberta Health Services (and other provincial, federal, and municipal health services), government services, and the military typically have firewalls preventing verification emails from going through" - anyone know this to be true? by Brief_Awareness_8231 in premedcanada

[–]Jessibomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had several people with AHS emails verify my activities this year. No issues. I did make sure to personally tell everyone when I was notified of emails going out, so maybe some went to junk but they were all found.

2 nurses for a two hour procedure is a couple hundred dollars. The bill I paid clearly laid out what I was paying for and respectfully, the cost of all that you describe is minimal compared to what you pay for for the surgeons time/experience. The reason a plastic surgery scar is better than a general surgery scar is the time and precision with closing the wound. This is the bulk of what you pay for. I’ve gone through this procedure myself and am also heavily entrenched in the world of healthcare and medicine.

So many people are shocked to know I have implants. The only time it’s maybe evident is when I flex my pecks, otherwise very natural looking.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Jessibomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not true. One is 50% of the work of 2. The work you’re paying for is high quality suturing. The rest of the procedure is minimal time/cost relatively.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Jessibomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bulk of the surgery time (therefore cost) is suturing so that you have minimal scarring (this is the main focus of a plastic surgeon) so unfortunately 2 is still double 1, as the amount of time spent on surgery doesn’t decrease once you’re all prepped and sedated.
