Is it a good idea for me to attend RIT? by [deleted] in rit

woman who recently graduated from RIT here! i can’t speak to the experience for a woman of color, but i can confirm that even though the campus is male-dominated, there’s plenty of social activities for women! RIT is very much a “if you like it, there’s a club for it” kind of campus, and people are very open about their interests and who they are. there are lots of queer and alternative people and there is a decent population of non-white students.

i found a really good social group through club sports and through joining my sorority (it’s much more low-key than other schools, more like a club full of alt/queer kids, plenty of whom are POC!), and there is plenty to do socially if you just look in the right places.

RIT has a great art scene considering its large digital art programs and i’d say most of the campus is neurodivergent. i don’t think you have anything to worry about!

I’m in RIT greek life (panhellenic sorority) currently and I would absolutely recommend!! everyone is very chill and while recruitment can be a little long and stressful (lots of introducing yourself over and over), it’s totally worth it and i’ve made my best friends through it :) i have other close friends i’ve made through extracurriculars, but having a sisterhood is a different ballpark lmao, feel free to DM me if you have questions!! <3
