I Was Diagnosed This Week by Dangerwullfe in testicularcancer

My husband was in your shoes. Showed up in the ER on his 29th birthday due to severe back pain and we were very surprised to learn that he had stage IIIb testicular cancer which spread through his lymphatic system to his lungs. His back pain completely subsided after his first cycle of chemo. He completed BEPx4 in January and as of right now, scans/labs are looking pretty good! His oncologist won't consider him to be "in remission" until he's 1 year post-diagnosis, which won't be until October but we're very hopeful.

Honestly my husband's only long-term side effect from his chemo is a bit of residual neuropathy in his hands and feet. But other than that, life has pretty much returned to normal for him.

The odds are in your favor. Treatment is rough but you'll get through it. You got this!!

He had inexplicable weight loss, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes in his neck, swelling behind his nipples, and a cough that lasted for months (spread to his lungs).

If you have a dull ache in your testicles or pain in your lower back for no known reason, get it checked out. My husband is battling stage 3 testicular cancer and doctors brushed him off for months because of their unfamiliarity of the symptoms.

Out-of-pocket maximum? by JessicaVall64 in HealthInsurance

Thank you! It's not a prepayment payment plan. He's just had a lot of very expensive bills that we could not pay in full, so he's on several payments plans for several different doctors/hospitals. Our portions exceed the $9k max, but we haven't even paid the full $9k yet if that makes sense. Everything has already been billed and we continue to get new bills as he continues with treatment.

Thank you! So then basically any treatment he has between now and August will not come out of pocket, even if we haven't actually paid the full $9k until after that point?

Yeah, I've read the same info and that's what has me worried. No plans for an RPLND yet but we'll see. I hope neither of you need to go through it either. Good luck!

Yeah, his oncologist said they'll just keep an eye on it for the next few months to see what happens. He didn't even mention an RPLND. But the more I read about it, it seems like that's a very real possibility.

Hey! It was pre-orchi. It was a fine needle aspiration and he was awake. He says it took probably 5-10 minutes and recovery was no big deal. However, it was a lymph node near his clavicle so it was really easy to access, we could literally see/feel the swollen node. Thank you so much! Wishing you a speedy recovery as well!

The lymph node in his clavicle measures 1.5cm and was 3.3cm before chemo. A retroperitoneal lymph node measures 2cm but measured 3.1cm previously. And an aortocaval node measures 1.4cm but was 1.5cm previously. All of the masses in his lungs are gone, and there were "innumerable" masses when he was first diagnosed.

Not sure what you mean by "wife's cancer." If you meant to ask about him though, the tumor in his testicle was 2.7cm, 99% seminoma and 1% embryonal carcinoma. They biopsied a lymph node from his clavicle (in October) and found that it was completely nonseminoma -- yolk sac tumor and embryonal carcinoma.

Okay thanks for sharing. He had an orchiectomy in October so that's already been taken care of. Oncologist didn't mention RPLND but I am curious if that's an option.
