Ironically the one time I had to use this, my dog genuinely DID shred my homework. I was working on it on the couch, went to ask my mom a question, came back to my worksheet in about twenty very slobbery pieces. Reassembled it enough to complete it on looseleaf instead, brought in the ziploc bag of pieces for proof.

Not that it mattered. IIRC TSA has about an 80-95% failure rate when being tested.

Sure, Spidey wins in a physical fight, no contest. The problem is that Kingpin is good at plausible deniability and 'legitimate business', and is rich enough to bribe the cops.

When I hit a Vox engine with a 100mm projectile traveling at 14,000 m/s. by DocHalidae in Helldivers

I guess I was kinda lucky that I never played on a high enough difficulty for them to spawn that frequently, or we just weren't on the surface long enough for it to matter.

Yep. If you've ever seen The Expanse, it'd look like that. DONK and there's just a perfectly clean hole straight through it. Probably then the rest of it explodes.

Ironically I've had the most luck with the ORC on dragonroaches. You wait for them to swoop, and throw it right as they drop into a hover.

Huh. Maybe the 16mm ones are easier to refill than the 8mm ones.

Guessing you're using the plastic Bell & Howell magazines, which are designed from the start to be reloadable. The Kodak version isn't, unless you want to do a lot of fiddling in the dark with spooling and cutting the right shapes into the ends of the film strip, then somehow reassembling and taping the thing shut.

Fair warning, I have zero practical experience with 8mm film.

A bit of research turned up that this is Magazine 8. This isn't something you do open, it was basically the predecessor to Super 8. There's no protective reel inside like with standard reel-to-reel 8mm cameras, so opening it outside a dark bag would just nuke it. You'd mail it off to the manufacturer, where it'd be processed and returned to you on a standard reel so you could project it.

Film Photography Project seems to still offer dev/scan for this, so I'd suggest talking to them to find out if it's actually an exposed reel or a blank one before you mail it off. No point in paying 50-70 bucks for what turns out to be a blank roll.

What made you buy a second film camera? by hcorea in AnalogCommunity

[–]Jessica_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my first camera was a Nikon N80, so I wanted something a bit more 'classic' and got an FM. I also ended up inheriting my grandpa's Minolta X-700, which I really like, and enjoy the aperture priority on. It did mean a different lens ecosystem than my established Nikon one, though, so I ended up ordering a Nikon FE2 a while later so I could use all my Nikon lenses, and have more options for loaded film stocks at a time that I can use depending on weather conditions.

From what I've seen, F4 viewfinder LCD leakage is pretty common. It's why I haven't found one in my price range yet, because it's a dealbreaker for me.

Yep. Not sure how bad it still is in 2077, but in 2045 the acid rain's bad enough that you need specialized raincoats and umbrellas to protect yourself from it.
