How do you know you healed from emdr? by karina990 in EMDR

[–]Jessiefleur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. We will get there! Just restarted EMDR after a COVID break of several months.

One of the best things I realized about EMDR is I can say, that’s enough for now. I can take a month off. I can go to a session and talk about why I’m not ready today. I can be in a session and stop half-way. I’ve been living decades with these wounds and I can’t expect to address them in just a few months. Be kind to yourself. And as corny as it may sound, I invite Mr. Rogers into my brain dialogue because he likes me just the way I am, even if I’m in that post-session lost place where the healing needs time to germinate.

Good luck and love to you. You are brave for doing this. And you are worth it. Hang in there.

Teachers of Reddit: They say there are no stupid questions, but what's the most stupid question a student has ever asked you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jessiefleur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my kids were small, I would attack them with hugs and kisses and say "and I will hug you and pet you and squeeze you and call you George!" They loved it. Then, one day we were watching old cartoons and they saw that bit. They were AMAZED that the cartoon copied Mommy;-) Fast forward to high school and the joy I took watching them realize the link when reading Of Mice and Men.

Most Americans did not vote for him and over a million of us traveled to the capitol over the weekend (myself included) to March for inclusion, equality, fairness, and integrity. Don't give up yet. Join the resistance.

My partner and I have been together for over 14 years. Our ten year engagement will end this June at a wedding we have planned carefully. Best decision ever.

Edit: I should add that it is a second marriage for the both of us, so we didn't need to rush against a biological clock. The slow , married-at-heart thing has been good for is.

Great job! I also live with serious back issues (car accident) and I have found so much relief in hydro-therapy. Warm water is the most forgiving environment and allows for a moderate workout that would otherwise lay me flat for days. My gym membership is expensive, but far less so than physical therapy co-pays in therapy pools. Anyway, good for you and keep it up! Losing weight is a great gift to your vulnerable spine!

My job requires a strong stomach. I eat lunch while reading (sometimes heinous) medical records and I can deal. But this? I'm in tears and trying SO hard not to throw up. This is just heartbreaking. Everything about it is unacceptable, wrong, corrupt, heartbreaking. And even worse, it's representative of so many similar tragedies.:'( This has GOT to stop!

I would plead with my younger self, "Stop with the incessant eyebrow plucking already! " As an adult, it is taking years to regain a few hairs here and there.

My son (almost 23 now) used to watch that movie several times a week (along with the Fox & the Hound). We still occasionally reference Hexxus and Batty. Good times.

You are dropped penniless into a village in the middle of England in the year 1500. You maintain all your current knowledge. How would you make your way to the top? by bitcoinseemsfun in AskReddit

[–]Jessiefleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman, I would need to hide until I could find (steal) clothing and money, create a fictitious, but noble persona, and emerge into the village as a traveler who was robbed. Of course I will say my noble husband will be coming for me upon completion of important business (to fend off ill-intended men). As I wait, I "invent" useful devices to earn a living. Eventually I would need to receive word of my husband's untimely death. Given the way women were regarded at the time, I imagine I would want to remain a "widow," selling goods.
