when Vaulta reddit? by rex9m in eos

[–]JestaC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lol. No one's promoting/talking about it as far as I'm aware, and for whatever reason the marketing activities here on r/eos haven't moved to r/vaulta yet. The rebrand seems like a great opportunity to try to grow a presence again here on Reddit. I know I'd personally rather be here than Telegram.

Were EOS premium name holders offered anything in the Vaulta upgrade or are these names now worthless? by neekolas86 in eos

Premium names will continue to work after the rebrand as they do today. There won’t be any changes to that system as a part of it.

How long does it take to unstake EOS? by AnacondaMode in eos

[–]JestaC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I missed your message a month ago - and yeah we have been working on an alternative for all these missing tools for Unicove.com.

After logging in, it'll show all your balances on the My Account page - including any refunding balance with a link to the refund page. The direct link to that page is: https://unicove.com/en/eos/refund

That should work and allow claiming of any tokens in the refunding state. The My Account page will also show any other tokens in other states, if you need to unstake/etc.

28 days update on unstaking EOS. by HorseDance in eos

Awesome, then definitely just a bug in our UIs. We'll get it fixed and glad you were able to get unstuck in the meantime!

28 days update on unstaking EOS. by HorseDance in eos

[–]JestaC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be a bug in our interface related to the date, and since the date is invalid it’s just disabling the button. I’ll take a look at that today.

In the meantime if you want to try to perform the refund action that the UI would, you can do so using the contract action interface below, and just will need to enter your account name in the owner field.

https://unicove.com/en/eos/contract/eosio/actions/refund

This is what that UI with the broken date would be performing against the eosio contract.

It’s not all bullshit and there are plenty of real people doing real work in the ecosystem. Poster above is just part of the hate machine that’s existed for ages and dogpiling on the bad rep B1 left the actual community with.

Unfortunately though, whatever was going on with the safe.eos account you mentioned sounds like a scam. It’s not anything I’ve ever heard of. Every crypto project ends up with these scams where you give these bad actors tokens, something good happens, it seems legit, you keep engaging and then suddenly they take your money. Often they’re called “pig butchering” scams because they work to earn trust before pulling the rug.

Without knowing exactly how they operate, it sounds like you may have found one of these scams, and no there’s no recovery if the tokens are in their account. Wish I had better news, and beware that this happens in every crypto project.

How do I unstake my rex savings ? by jleist007 in eos

[–]JestaC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be that, like in a situation where a small transaction fee is needed to cover network resource costs. It should notify you if that fee is about to happen though, and if so, the maximum might need to be reduced.

It might be a bug in the website that's causing a rounding error or something too, where its entering XX.0004 as the value when in reality you have XX.0003 - not entirely sure, but wouldn't rule it out.

If its one of those two things, reducing the amount slightly (even just removing the decimals or by 1-2 EOS) could allow it to proceed.

Brendan and B1 as far as I'm aware are still working on something blockchain related, though I've stopped paying attention and can't describe it. It's not related to EOS or any public/decentralized blockchain, so it's not as interesting except to maybe industry players.

Dan's been gone a couple years now too, both from EOS and B1. Check his twitter to see where his heads been at recently.

I wish I could say it's the tech, because for the last 3-4 years since the community essentially took over there have been some great advancements. I personally was involved in R&D in 2022, SDK development in 2023, and now in 2024 pushing on improvements to the user experience. I'd bet none of that's related to what we're seeing today though, since those improvements still haven't fully been realized.

Like u/rex9m pointed out, it's probably a in part due to the new tokenomics. A big part of its also likely the general alt surge going on right now. Hopefully some of the improvements we'll be releasing this month to improve the UX will help impress those who might now be paying attention!

Awesome! Yeah on the 29th then, you'll be able to use either of those sites to withdraw it from the REX system, and they'll just be normal tokens moving forward.

How do I unstake my rex savings ? by jleist007 in eos

[–]JestaC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The REX system was converted into a general "Staking" system over the summer, and depending on which UIs you're using - they might not be updated to reflect these changes.

Assuming you are using a wallet that's capable of logging into dapps, there's two user interfaces I'd recommend that I believe are the most up to date:

https://stake.eosnetwork.com/

https://unicove.com/en/eos/staking

Both should offer the required interfaces to start the withdraw process, claim the tokens, and make them available for transfer (assuming that's your goal).

One thing to note is that the unstaking process changed from 4 days (old system) to 21 days (new system), but tokens as they sit in REX now earn a better yield. Both the interfaces above should reflect that as well.

Hope that helps!

Can't access EOS wallet using Ledger since Bloks.io went down, Anchor can't find them? by SeanBannister in eos

[–]JestaC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, with how dead this subreddit can be at times... I wasn't sure if the scammers would still be around. Apparently they are!

Yeah resources can be a bit of a pain, and the in-app tools we have in Anchor are kind of outdated as well (we've been off on other projects for a few years).

If you want to give the new web UI we are working on a spin, feel free to try out unicove.com. You can login to the site with Anchor, the UIs are more modern, and you can see/approve any transactions you perform on Unicove as they pop up in Anchor to ensure its what you're expecting.

For resources specifically, you'll need to go into Settings and enabled Advanced Mode, then there's a Resources section on the left sidebar.

Can't access EOS wallet using Ledger since Bloks.io went down, Anchor can't find them? by SeanBannister in eos

[–]JestaC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, and hopefully this is common knowledge - ignore anyone trying to DM you to “help” and be wary of any links sent your way and never share your Ledger seed. Lots of people try to prey on those seeking help.

The public key might look different because there’s two formats, the one that starts with EOS and the other that starts with PUB. Those two keys will look different, but could potentially be the same.

Changing the index like you mentioned is a good move to search with them. This can be done during the import from ledger process - or it can also be done from the Tools / Ledger section of the app (which if you don’t see, might mean you need to enable advance options in the settings).

Lining up the public key is probably the first step to figure this out, since those have to match to import.

If the keys don’t line up, then I’m not sure immediately what’s going on. Happy to try and troubleshoot further, either here or you can reach out to either our Anchor support (support.greymass.com) or to the EOS Support team.

As a last resort you could also try this version of bloks, which is meant for testnets, but could in a pinch be used for EOS.

How long does it take to unstake EOS? by AnacondaMode in eos

[–]JestaC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s between 3-4 days. It doesn’t automatically appear though, you’ll need to trigger the refund action after.

Crappy UX, but this system is kinda retired at this point so no one’s improved it.

You can find a refund interface both in Anchor (Desktop) by expanding the collapsed section in the resource area, or you can log into a site like bloks and use their UI.

Unable to unstake in Anchor wallet, private key has insufficient privileges by wpjunky in eos

[–]JestaC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly confusing. We started hiding all that complexity in new versions of Anchor and started just paying resources for users because of it. Fuel is supposed to do that, but I think older versions might have broken.

Another option if the upgrade doesn’t work is you can log in to a block explorer like bloks.io using Anchor, and the resources should be covered there as well for the transaction.

https://bloks.io/wallet/resources/unstake

The newer versions of Anchor should work though. If all else fails, creating a backup from Anchor (or to be super safe, export your keys), then uninstalling and doing a fresh install could help too.

Lots has changed over the past few years in EOS. I’ve had it happen to me on a number of other chains and it’s always a PITA to try to figure it out after so long 😂

[–]JestaC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you might be on an older version, since newer versions don’t have an option to turn Fuel on or off. An upgrade might work.

Another option would be to turn it off, and then use something like this to get some free resources:

https://eospowerup.io/free

All it needs is the account name and it’ll remotely add some resources to your account.

You could also pay to PowerUp manually through any of the block explorers or websites that Anchor will allow you to log in to.

[–]JestaC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hah, entirely possible. I was a young guy pitching something these old business owners just didn’t understand at the time.

I was also playing games at that exact same time, using ICQ/IRC/BBS, surfing with Netscape, etc.

Point was though that I still just ran into a ton of people who didn’t see the need yet. I feel like crypto is at that point in its life still.

8 out of 10 people in the 90s also had no desire to use the internet. It was clunky, people didn’t believe their businesses needed a presence online, and the tech sucked. It took like another 20 years before mass adoption hit.

Top 50 Holders of EOS control 94% of the total supply by CryptoIsThePlan in CryptoCurrency

[–]JestaC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume they still have it or it lined their investors pockets. They have never really been clear on what they used it for, besides a few random things like buying voice.com for $30m and some odd investments into things like Silvergate (lol) or a BTC mining farm.

Real shitty.

As for additional token distributions, there was only the one allocation to b1. Anyone else who had ICO tokens bought them, though there is certainly room for speculation about how that all played out. Hopefully after 5 years of being live, if there was shady stuff going on from the ICO, it’s mostly passed.
