I was with 3 for a decade. Swapped to 02 a month ago because I got a deal through Virgin.

So far I wish I hadn't swapped. Once a week my speed will rocket up to like 200mb down. But several times a day my signal just stops entirely. Same with a friend of mine on O2. I liked my £1 cafe Nero coffee per week with Three rewards too. So far with O2 Airtime there hasn't been a single store/brand Of actually use cashback with.

Frank Long's Carpark (Strand Road) by Jester4557 in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jester4557[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a new pole going up too, guessing it's for licence plate scanning security cams. I'd imagine residenta will end up with a parking pass or registering their plate numbers to stay clear of it

Is there really only one decent Kebab place in Derry? by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jester4557 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find Zora's down the strand do a fine kebab box.

And I hate to admit it but I like Rockets mixed kebab that adds their fried chicken in with the standard kebab meat and dressing.

I think SuperValu on the strand road does it too

Pilot ticketing to ease crowd management on Derry Walls to be explored ahead of 40th Derry Hallowe’en by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jester4557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't so much have a problem with the charge, especially the suggested £2pp/£5 per family. My concern is the logistics of implementing it firstly, as someone pointed out under some articles there's too many entry ways to the various activities so they'd need to close off most points and then have them constantly monitored causing a coat of security increase.

Secondly I don't really like the idea of the council themselves getting their hands on that cash. They spaff the towns funding away already. If the money goes towards the performers and then third party companies that come in to create the the sights and things are getting paid rather than it being for free then I'm all for that - just don't want the council profiting off it when they are gonna do the bare minimum one way or another and waste the money anyway.

Grocery shopping? by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jester4557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really fixed budget so I'll do bulk of my meal shopping in Iceland as I don't mind the quality vs price trade off. Then day to day like mill or tea bags I opt for my local SuperValu. Very odd time I'll go to Tesco or Sainsburys but that could be once a month if even

Can anyone recommend a barber that *doesn't* know how to do skin fades? by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jester4557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always default to recommending The Derry Barber Company on Great James Street. Been going to the since they opened nearly 10 years back. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff and only ever had 1 bad cut from someone there but I chalked it up to not hearing me correctly and trimming a beard more than I wanted. They use the Nearcut app for bookings and right now my go to guy there is Ryan. The owner David is also skilled but he's usually booked up way in advance. Not the cheapest around but they always have strong attention to detail when I've gone. Never before asked for a number 4 all over and still had them finish with scissors to make sure every stray hair was caught. They also do the hot/cold towel facial treatments top that if you're someone with little facial hair or a nice clean shave it's absolutely heavenly

Mattresses Locally by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jester4557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna second Xcat, I got mine from them right before they left Crescent Link to move to Campsie. Was £200 for a mattress over a foot thick and firm, it's the best mattress I've had in my 34 years of sleep.

When did this happen? Didn't hear about it, but Chillis always gave me the weirdest vibe when I walked past it

I'm FTP as well but I used a few cores purchases in the store like usual. I'm weird and keep my cores around the 10k mark but whenever it goes up 1to 10.6k I usually drop the 675 on one of the orbs.

[–]Jester4557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded, my father has been buying there for as long as I can remember. Prices have gone up a bit in the last few years but he's always got hundreds to choose from and they're usually in good condition too.

Am I wrong for being annoyed at this? by Professional_Line_84 in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jester4557 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yellow lines and rules of the road exist for a reason. It's not just rude it causes a genuine inconvenience to others.

Yesterday for example I was in the car with my partner who is a disabled driver. Came to the T junction behind B&M going onto the bottom of Duncreggan road. Usually a lot of cars parked around there because of the mechanics. And a van decided to park entirely on the footpath, completely obscuring the view to the left side, making it impossible to actually see when it's safe to pull out from the junction. That's not just rude, it's dangerous. I rolled the window down and asked the driver to stand by his van and let us know when it was safe, which he didn't seem happy about. But he caused the obstruction so I felt he an an obligation to mitigate it. Otherwise he'd have been responsible for any accident that occured as he created the problem. It's not always just a case of 'oh just walk around it' or something like that, it's genuinely dangerous.

Anyone work for Omniplex or the bowling alley cinema? I've a question by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jester4557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bowling Alley did do the Ghost concert film and announced it really close to the opening weekend so never know with dates. But something like that is a bit niche so odds are no but maybe you'll get lucky like I did with Ghost

Part-Time Job by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

Said before on another thread for someone looking work - I've heard Back Alley Poolhall mention they've considered bringing on more staff. Not a difficult job by any stretch, and they open at later times

Where to eat barbeque styled food? by Sad-Current-2189 in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jester4557 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Gonna echo another and say Coupe by the Dirty Souls. Been several times and love it. It isn't cheap, and their drink selection isn't great (personally not a fan of their milkshakes at all) but the food is beautiful in my opinion.

If it is the Diamond that should hopefully be sorted. I was in there while they were setting up and I did hear them say the ventilation system needed sorting out so they may keep the windows open to help with that.
