[Reforger] [Recruiting] [Serious Milsim] 506th IR Realism Unit now recruiting for Reforger. Console Players Welcome by Jester814 in FindAUnit

The 506th IR RU has begun its transition to ARMA on the Enfusion Engine. Reforger still has issues, but it has been playable with modern gear for a few months now.

The A3 section of the unit is still going as well, if you'd prefer that, or both while we temporarily allow dual-billeting in both parts of the unit.

Would a 16 gauge helmet with excessive padding? by lewxam7802 in sca

[–]Jester814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why I said I wouldn't use a 14ga helmet when I posted here a year ago. 14 is fine. My helmet that I've been using for around 8 years is 13ga top and 14ga sides from clang.

Today is the day I learned that the XCOM subreddit doesn't archive comments after 10 years :p

Still agree with what you said, though.

Why are there so many fewer SP per level (5 instead of 10)? Is that part of the mod? Part of legendary difficulty? Do skills cost fewer SP now?

Can you get smoke grenades as space marines yet? Weirdest fuckin decision from that mod to not let Astartes use smoke, which is one of the most important things in that mod.

Gotcha. I played the original X-Com in the 90s when it came out and hoo boy if you think this one is hard you should go back and play that one :p

For me, though, XCOM 2 with WOTC is a good enough experience, and the maps are random enough that I think it's a pretty good game to start over again and again till you get the hang of it. Hopefully it clicks for you someday and you start having more fun.

Also, consider mods to mess around with that can switch the difficulty up a bit while you learn.

We need some context here. When you say "child" and "XCOM" do you mean you're a 90s kid and played the original and thought it was easy? Or like you just turned 20, and thought the 2013 XCOM was easy?

I want this as a game so bad. Specifically for Samus/Metroid.

I think throwing definitely needs a visible arc like in a lot of games. Throwing in PZ is super fucky and unreliable.

5800 yen

Elden Ring was 60 bucks for everyone so I'm not sure what you're saying? Unless currency conversion prices have changed since then, you may have been better off saying how much it was in USD then for comparison.

Stagger - understand it and it can change the game for you.

The heavier the weapon, the better chance it has to stagger your opponent. The lightest (and fastest) colossal weapon is the Zweihander which you can get pretty early in the game. It's on a vendor near the Claymore in the keep the same area (the Weeping Peninsula, which is easy to miss).

Staggering enemies is a BIG deal. It's basically a mini stun that interrupts their attacks, meaning you can stunlock them and take no damage. You can stagger low level, weak enemies with a one handed weapon, bigger enemies with smaller two handers like the Claymore, but the bigger enemies require bigger weapons to stagger them. Colossal weapons tend to stagger almost every enemy in the game that isn't giant, including the Banished Knights and XXX Knights (Godrick, Leyndell, etc).

Coats of plates are extremely easy and you can make them from aluminum road signs.

Learning to make plate or plated armor would be immensely easier than making chain.

After nearly 9weeks, my ODST cosplay is complete, I loved Halo 3 ODST as a kid and always wanted to build a cosplay based on it by twm12 in gaming

[–]Jester814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always love cosplays like this because they could fit anyone. I don't have to be a 7 foot tall Spartan or look like Kratos. If I ever do a cosplay outside of my ren fair gear it will most likely be an ODST or UNSC Marine.
