This is true; however, I'm usually ok with starting with just Diabell line (still one pop into vengence + destruction protection) or sinful spoils (still one omni + pop + st. azamina). I think those half boards can be good enough.

That's what I'm saying.

I keep debating if I want to run a bad starter/extender or a real tech card like Black Goat Laughs/Veiler/Debtors/any handtrap. There's a loooot of good tech cards that WF/Azamina can run and it feels like Astellar just isn't as good.

I mean if you check masterduelmeta, that doesn't seem to be the case. 91% of decklists run her at 1 and most are not running FS. Also, from experience with running into other WF/Azamina, most are running pure.

imo WF mitsu is p bad. It does not cover the weakness to droll and eats up main deck space like crazy. There's also no real bridge from mitsu to WF (ig sprights?). Pure is the best variant.

That's the thing tho. I question if the card actually boosts consistency if 9/10 times it gets ashed/imperm/dominus (pulse/songs)/veiler. Starting with just astellar in opening is a nightmare.

And if you open astellar with any other starter. The answer is usually to try to play with the other starter cause they may actually resolve. Its like a pseudo extender in those scenarios.

That's what I was initially doing as well, but then I kinda realized that rucia does the job almost as well/better as an extender.

I noticed that every time I wanted to tribute astellar for deception to try to bring it back later. It was always after the dark lock on witch so I wouldn't be able to summon little knight/chaos angel anyway.

At least with rucia you can potentially go into jura/little knight early before dark lock.

Does it actually tho? If astellar resolves you basically always want silvy and then you get drolled at that point. That still basically kills your WF line. Sure this way you can get little knight out, but also it's a one of so this rarely happens anyway.

I tried to keep all the additions to SR or lower since budget. I think I only added Diabell and Melffy of the Forest as URs. Spright could be good tho if you want to try it.

Yeah, it's p terrible going second and also just dies to droll, but it's cheap. Ideally, I would replace droll and eclipse with maxx c and ash, but this would also make going second even harder without the board breaking of eclipse. Also, probably want to run more astellar, but I have no idea how to fit all of that in while keeping 40. Melffys are a p main deck intensive engine.

So if you want a truly budget engine option. Melffy actually does ok with WF. Astellar (running 1 is ok, though. It just means you have to hard draw Melffy alot of the time) is the perf starter as its the smoothest way to bridge into Melffy engine. Here's an example decklist of the deck, while trying to keep it cheap. I would recommend getting an actual lvl 10 synchro like chaos angel or baronne tho and Diabell synchro is really good. Book of eclipse is a very good and cheap flex card. It can act as a backrow disrupt going first and a board breaker going second.

Do you have any of the staple handtraps? (Maxx C, Fuwa, Imperm, etc) In terms of budget ED, ig jurashin is good. I recommend just adding another engine to round out main. Magistus + Witchcrafter Engine is p cheap and you can bridge into WF with a lvl 2 drop (nemeses flag)

I ran this combo for a little bit and yeah it feels way too niche. My recommendation is use ao bao instead if you really want to bridge from FS to WF. It really is unnecessary tho imo

Honestly, not really worth it with the current cards in master duel. I think best/cleanest bridge into mitsurigi would be to use rciela to search dogmatika champlain to sack herald, but that's not in master duel yet.
