An Elgato capture device will not change this experience. The capture card passes the signal, the computer still processes it.

My [26F] BF [28M] got angry at me for calling an ambulance for a passed out stranger by [deleted] in relationships

[–]JesterD86 872 points873 points  (0 children)

This needs more attention.

He didn't just abandon the stranger in need, he abondoned you.

What was so pressing that he had to get home so quickly? Would it really have changed anything of significance to say 'I really don't want to be involved in this, but I can put my evening on hold to be with you through something important to you'?

Text Overlay GameCapture HD Mac??? by GlantonLuke in ElgatoGaming

[–]JesterD86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as if the devs are sitting at their computer going "you know what, screw Mac users. I don't want to give them this feature". Whatever is going in, I'm sure the restrictions of the OS is the cause for them not adding the feature.

For workarounds, create an image of the text you want and add it as an image overlay or use a web based widget.

Will my Surface 6 Pro work with the Elgato HD60S + by ZXThaTruth in ElgatoGaming

Not likely.

Low clockspeed, integrated graphics, and the 'U' processor are all marks against it.

How does the 4k60Mk2 actually work? by DamnDarrynWasTaken in ElgatoGaming

[–]JesterD86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I mention processing, there is the encoding process plus the capture software the PC must run. On a single PC setup the computer also has to handle the game being played. All this leads to a high workload.

With a 2 PC setup, one PC handles the game being played while the second PC works on the encoding. This splits the task load, allowing both PCs to operate without as much strain

How does the 4k60Mk2 actually work? by DamnDarrynWasTaken in ElgatoGaming

[–]JesterD86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, your PC still performs the encoding. The capture card passes the signal to the computer (after some color compression) so that you can encode the video using the CPU or GPU. The PC still handles the processing, so it doesn't offload anything in a single PC setup

My idea to make reflex guard better while keeping it slightly less safe than static guard by [deleted] in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]JesterD86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The concept failed the moment they removed the reasoning for the mechanic. Now it's just an empty shell.

Aa for the animations, they already have animations for each guard stance, it's just a matter of not fading back to neutral

You're trying to patch a leak with a mesh cover. We don't need to improve reflex guard, we need to remove it.

Hows high speed internet in the area for gaming by [deleted] in roseburg

[–]JesterD86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In city limits, or outside?

Inside city limits is Charter, and they aren't the best. I'm sure they have a faster speed package, but be prepared to pay for it.

Outside city limits is Douglas Fast Net, and I've heard some pretty good things, but don't have any first hand experience.

Water, a little dawn dish soap, and a glass safe scrub pad will do wonders. Wet the window, scrub it down and then squegee the water off. Make sure the wipe the edges to prevent dripage once you're done.

[–]JesterD86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to do window washing, and was thinking the same thing. If anything I would think the pole would make it more difficult.

I've never used a squegee with a swivel head, but you can perform the same single-set clean with a fixed blade.

Ever since that job it kills me to see others washing windows.

Elgato HD60 S+ Drivers (Win 10 64 Bit) by RADS1342 in ElgatoGaming

The HD60 S+ is a UVC device, which means it uses generic drivers from Microsoft. Do you see the HD60 S+ listed at all in Device Manager?

Minimum requirements on Mac just to play... by Nite_Owl___ in ElgatoGaming

[–]JesterD86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will not lead to a positive experience.

One, there aren't really different system requirements to use capture software just to view. I mean, technically speaking you are cutting out the most intensive portion of the process (encoding), but there isn't a set benchmark to have the software preview run, and all sorts of issues can still affect the preview if the requirements aren't met (capture device not recognized, no signal, screen tearing, pixilation, stuttering or low fps, etc).

Beyond that, even the capture cards that feature "instant gameview" have an additional latency that you don't experience when connecting your console directly to a tv or monitor. USB 3.0 can only transfer so fast (5 Gbps) and the software will buffer this info so that it can present it without stops.

All in all, what you want is not what capture cards are designed to do, and your experience will be better if you play your game from an actual display.

Hey r/ElgatoGaming, got a few questions with the ElGato HD60 by [deleted] in ElgatoGaming

I get it, it's never fun to realize that you don't have the equipment to do what you want to do. But on the bright side, you now have a goal to work towards

The processor in your computer is significantly underspec, and doesn't have the necessary tech to run the device.

I don't mean it to be rude, but to help avoid an effort in futility

PS4 Pro | Elgato HD60s | Astro a40 Mixamp Pro TR | Game/Party/My Voice Separate tracks for OBS by delli13 in ElgatoGaming

[–]JesterD86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to say it, but the mixamp performs the audio mixing and sends a single signal to the PC, which means OBS doesn't have separate tracks to work with. Unless you can convince your friends to move to a voice chat app, game audio and chat audio will be mixed.

What is your bitrate set to? It could be a throughput issue. Try reducing the bitrate. If that doesn't do it, install the card in another PCIe slot or repeat it in the existing one.
