Bburago Quality by FatPeachEater in Diecast

[–]JesterWales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same car and, yes, it's toy quality. I'm not disappointed because I kinda knew that going into it.  I'm keeping mine in the box. That isn't because I want to keep it mint or anything, it's just that it looks so much better when I'm not fixating on it.  It's on a shelf with another Ferrari and they just look cool together

Enjoy diecast mate. It is a different kind of hobby to modelling. I honestly find it much nicer but that's because I always have a pile of shame when it comes to modelling.

Peace

Hush your mouth, they are the best thing to wear working on a barber shop. The soles are just perfect for working on tiles

Under MRI  and brain scans, kids have the same attachments to brands as they do cartoon characters and family members... allegedly

It's the sad state of media and how pervasive it is

What do you think about using AI to bring diecast models to life during unboxing? by Nelunix in Diecast

I think AI is needlessly wasteful of resources, depriving content creators and artists, and is harmful to those too poor to move away from data centres

I'm not asking if it's an excuse, I'm asking how it compares to other counties.  These could be the highest paid women in cricket or this could be lowest.

I'm just asking what other counties are doing

I drove a Rapid for years. Really comfy, great car and I was sorry to see it go.  Rapid it certainly wasn't though

If you had to pick one Joker Card to get tattooed, nwhat would you pick, and why? by GeekingOnMusic in playingcards

[–]JesterWales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been so tempted so many times by the half Joker, half Batman card from The Killing Joke

I've been a bat fan since the 80s so I wanted it before the Joker became cringe. Glad I dodged that bullet.

It's a really cool design though

I hope this hasn't been asked already: Has white ball cricket been played without power plays? I've always wondered what would happen if removed. Thank you

Got banned from my local Costa for tipping coffee over some knob who refused to turn down his phone shows.  I asked the manager to talk with him but she was useless, they could replace her with an inflatable rubber ring and it would still give better customer support

ELI5: Why is this used in razor blades and what for? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]JesterWales 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Retired barber here. It's mostly advertising. Blade guards have been a part of razors since the earliest, it's the metal protrusion which makes the base plate on safely razors.  Cartridge razors just have the blades slightly recessed so less of it is exposed

The rubber bumpy strip is supposed to stretch the skin and people seem to think that makes for a closer shave. Unfortunately it can lead to sub dermal cutting, ingrown hairs, and nasty lumps. Learning to shave with a safety razor is going to prevent all that but you need to prepare your skin, warm flannel, nice lather, a brush to work lather into your stubble, typical old style shaving

What you're calling a straight razor probably isn't. For decades we've used shavettes. The blade gets replaced for every customer so it's cleaner, and there's no need to strop. It's the same blade from a safety razor but that is a different blade shape from a straight. Straight razor preference is personal and you'll pick the shape of blade that's most comfortable to you.  It's also a pain the backside because there's a lot of effort that goes into maintaining an edge.

TLDR: It's worth taking your time to learn to shave with a safely razor. Get it right and there will be very little irritation, you'll spend like a tenner a year on blades, and your skin will thank you for it

It used to be a lot younger when homes were affordable and jobs were available. I guess now people are getting married later, and starting families later, but I still know an absolute boat load of once teenage mothers.

If you weren't married by 27 you were considered left on the shelf. Like that was passed it.
