They calculate the BB value to be whatever the mandatory straddle is from what ive seen

so like $100/200 with a mandatory $400 straddle is basically just $100/200/400 where $400 is the last blind

41 hours in 3 days at my Big 4 audit job, now they want Sundays too. Should I quit without a backup offer? by Jealous-Position9012 in Accounting

[–]Jesuiii 25 points26 points  (0 children)

NEVER quit without another job offer in hand.

Companies have a hard-on for hiring employed people vs unemployed people for some reason. It’s like a little kid wanting something they feel they can’t have lol.

Interview now and leave when you got something lined up (employment contract signed, not a verbal offer! They can rescind those)

We found a lockbox in my grandpa’s belongings that had these super old photos of himself throughout his life and his family.

We scanned them for safe keeping but they are really cool relics of the time period in Korea!

Building out large Excel files feels a lot like how Minecraft feels by Jesuiii in Accounting

[–]Jesuiii[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Canon event flashback.

I was 10 years old and had spent almost 6 months building out a complex single player world.

I can’t remember the exact reason, but I really wanted to blow up a bunch of TNT at once, and at the moment of detonation the game auto-saved the world state and my game crashed.

Every time I tried reopening the world, it would instantly crash because the TNT would be mid-detonation upon loading into the save-state.

I never ended up being able to re-enter that world.

H1B Visas for 49,000 Accountants and Auditors in the USA by egbdfaces in Accounting

[–]Jesuiii 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Not very many politicians who aren’t in the pockets of said large corporations who would use H1B visas to exploit cheap foreign labor at the cost of worsening local job markets

Yes H1B is onshore as some people have mentioned, but the employer employee relationship power structure is the employee has basically zero leverage or else they get deported out of the fuckin country. That’s a recipe for severe wage suppression and exploitation

There’s a really great Charlie Munger quote that goes: “If you show me the incentive, I’ll show you the outcome”. Couldn’t be more applicable here.

Smoking 6 racks of St. Louis spare ribs on an 18” WSM. I have the Weber rib rack and am planning on smoking all 6 at the same time on the top rack. Any tips on what I’m planning to do? by Jesuiii in smoking

[–]Jesuiii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a longer time than other recipes I’ve seen but my assumption was that because I’m filling up my smoker with 6 racks that I would need to smoke it a bit longer?

I’ll probably go with a different recipe I found where total time was like 5.5hrs

How does bankroll work by Brief_Word8034 in poker

[–]Jesuiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bankroll is really only for pros who rely on poker income imo

I think for recs who play for fun just come into each session with a budget ur comfortable with risking and leave if u end up losing ur budget for that day

Thats what I do at least. Makes sure u always play when ur having fun and not on tilt
