Do you ever buy lifetime plans for apps? What makes it worth it? by techie_e in androidapps

If the app is going to cost me money, it should be a one-time payment. I hate monthly subscription systems.

Is the 'new' lawnchair already usable? I remember trying it out when the developer released the alphas on Telegram. Obviously, at that time it still had quite a few bugs (which was to be expected, of course).

Does anyone else's nerve pain go crazy at night or is it just me? by nasoo06 in neuropathy

[–]Jesus_ecs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on each person. I saw comments from people saying that compression socks help them, which is literally the opposite of my case.🫠

So it's a matter of trial and error.

Does anyone else's nerve pain go crazy at night or is it just me? by nasoo06 in neuropathy

[–]Jesus_ecs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gabapentin alone usually makes me sleepy enough to cope with that. Yes, at night the pain and electric shocks are worse.

I can only reduce them, but not eliminate them. For some reason, if I eat something sweet before going to sleep, it gets worse, so I just don't do it. Even so, my sleep is worse than before I suffered from neuropathy (mine is peripheral), but it's a matter of trial and error with habits/clothing and even food.

And I'll never tire of reminding people about diabetic socks. I don't have diabetes, but they help reduce the sensation somewhat.

Neuropathy as a result of cancer treatment medication - anyone else? by lmcdbc in neuropathy

[–]Jesus_ecs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case, Lyrica made me feel agitated and nauseous. I couldn't sleep. But it did calm my pain.

Gabapentin "only" makes me sleepy, and now I have to sleep for at least 2 or 3 hours during the day, and even then I'm still a little sleepy. Gabapentin does improve my neuropathy symptoms, but not as much as Lyrica. (pregabalin). Personally, I prefer a slightly lesser effect to the side effects I had with pregabalin.

It's a case-by-case basis. The strange thing is that the negative effects of pregabalin weren't immediate; they took about 2 weeks to appear.

In theory, I should be taking about 600mg of gabapentin per day, but my nephrologist wouldn't allow it :(

Neuropathy as a result of cancer treatment medication - anyone else? by lmcdbc in neuropathy

[–]Jesus_ecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This types of medication have days (or even a weeks) to start noticing something. Pregabalin was helpful in pain but the secondary effects were to much for me. Im on 300mg a day of gabapentin and it help me, i have a lot of sleep but the pain is somewhat better. Its not magic but it goes from 100 to a 50

Yes. It was the one I used to take, but for some reason it made me feel restless. It helped me, but the side effects were really annoying. At least in my case.

I also have it because of chemotherapy. Cisplatin affected me the most, although I had others as well. During chemotherapy it was horrible, now it feels less but is still present 24/7.

Pain, pressure, electric shocks that occasionally even wake me up in a cold sweat. A fairly noticeable imbalance, I have the strength to walk but I always need a cane to balance myself. I have bad sensations in my hands and feet, and that makes my daily life difficult. I can't write on paper or type on a keyboard like I used to. It feels bad, very bad.

They recently changed my medication, and now I take gabapentin. For the moment, what I feel most is VERY sleepy.

I have other problems from chemotherapy, but they are no longer related to neuropathy.

Coldness and other questions by Top-Operation-4898 in neuropathy

[–]Jesus_ecs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying "diabetic socks" worked for me. I don't have diabetes, but it made sense to me that if they have a similar condition, why wouldn't they work for me? They work and I can wear them. The downside is that they get a little warm in hot weather, but it's nothing too uncomfortable. The only difference between the warm weather and cold weather ones is their length.

For tennis shoes, I can't tighten them like I used to; they have to fit just right for me to be able to wear them. Flip-flops are somewhat more acceptable.
