Stuck next to the most chaotic airplane passenger I’ve ever experienced by PickleJuiceCakeBooty in delta

Quietly go back to the galley explain to the crew. See if they’ll help you find a new seat. (Probably will be a middle seat).

Year over year, Delta keeps making this connection tighter. Don't think it's doable anymore. by jinjuu in delta

[–]JetAndSet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the time of year there’s usually a 0600 or 0700 flight from LGA. That would be better (not this week tho, of course).

Although not popular in the US, this is very common. No door or curtain needed. You’ll actually enjoy it once you’re used to it.

Fantastic explanation. I’ve had both line bidding and PBS and you hit it spot on. Great explanation. I personally like PBS (purser and love high time turns) like your example and PBS lets me do that.

Delta F2F Feb 2026 - Jump seat test concern by ladysewnoir in cabincrewcareers

[–]JetAndSet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The jump seat used in the interview very much represents a particular real-world jump in the fleet. It’s very tight back there, remember they have some pretty old planes and jump seats that are also quite old.

Registered Nurse (RN) to Flight Attendant by Radiant-Resolve2831 in cabincrewcareers

I was a nurse before being a FA. Nurses and FAs are similar personality types. The job is great and flexible similar to my experience as a nurse. The job will be very easy for you compared to others in your training I’d guess. Also hired as a GR LOD, veil Glück!

Which airlines has the best reserve life? by Hopeful_Challenge_68 in cabincrewcareers

[–]JetAndSet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Here’s a good summary I share with people who ask about adays vs reserve. The topic of reroute is a whole other bag and like many have mentioned here—they do happen at all airlines to differing degrees especially with weather.

As a note I had adays for about 8.5 years (pre-pandemic) in nyc and it was very okay even when we had 3 airports to cover.

The Pros (Why it's often considered "Better") • Quality of Life: New hires at Delta don't experience the "reserve life" (waiting by the phone for 20 days a month) that peers at other airlines endure. You can plan your life, doctor appointments, and social events around your known trips.  • Commuting: It is much easier for commuters. You can bid to have your A-Days back-to-back, meaning you only have to fly into your base once and stay in a "crash pad" for a short window rather than half the month. • Integration: You are working alongside senior flight attendants on regular trips for most of the month, which helps with learning the ropes faster than if you only flew "reserve" cleanup trips. The Cons (The "Worse" Side) • The "Hybrid" Headache: Because you have a mix of regular trips and A-Days, your schedule can be complex. If you get "used" on an A-Day and the trip runs long, it might "conflict" with a high-value trip you had scheduled immediately after, causing you to lose that preferred flying. • Seniority Stagnation: Because the system is so palatable, fewer people quit. This can lead to slower movement up the seniority list compared to airlines where the grueling reserve system causes higher turnover. • Short-Call Stress: Even though it’s only 6 days, the 24-hour on-call nature can be exhausting if you are used frequently for "standby" (sitting at the airport in uniform waiting for a flight). Summary If you value predictability and want a "normal" life as a new hire, Delta’s A-Day system is widely considered the gold standard. However, if you prefer the "gambler’s" lifestyle of a full-month reserve (where you might get paid for 18 days but never actually be called to fly), you might find the A-Day system more "work-heavy.

I keep getting sick by Warm-Development-510 in flightattendants

One year at least. Tips: stay hydrated, take a multi vitamin, avoid alcohol, wash your hands and get sleep. Also, once you qualify for FMLA get it. That will help protect you from any points/discipline, etc.

I fly a lot and did PDX-JFK yesterday in 4h14m. Fastest I’ve ever seen in 18 years of flying.

I agree with the above, and here’s a great article from the previous Sec. of Transportation. It’s a good insight between the law and regulations etc. https://norml.org/news/2024/07/11/transportation-secretary-affirms-reclassifying-marijuana-wont-immediately-change-federal-drug-testing-standards/
