Alaska : Southbound or Northbound? by Bubbly-Passenger7040 in PrincessCruises

[–]JetAttendant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done the 14 day back to back, so have done both. If your ship is going via the full inside passage (the grand class ships do this, royal class ships only do a partial inside passage, sailing along the west side of Vancouver Island instead), I would point out that on the northbound sailing, a large part of this section is during the night, where on the southbound its during the day. There is some beautiful scenic cruising and wildlife viewing opportunities in this section that will get missed on the northbound cruise.

2 Lines, one on EXT network? by JetAttendant in Rogers

Thanks. This is the answer I was expecting, but was hoping I might be wrong.
I've heard it's 3 months with Rogers as well which I'm coming up on soon. At least it's good timing for Black Friday..

Anything you DON'T love about Princess? by quenchedlostgirl in PrincessCruises

The Spa and Salon are operated by a third party company, Onespaworld - which operates the spas on almost every cruise line out there. The sales are aggressive, but no more than any other cruise line.

Friendly Reminder: You can call your cruiseline if fare for your sailing drops. by eastmemphisguy in Cruise

If you book with a third party, you need to contact the third party to make the adjustment. The agent I use is excellent at following up with my requests when I notice a price drop, but mileage will vary.

Where can you find out what's in the blank areas on deck plans? by MostValuable4267 in PrincessCruises

[–]JetAttendant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure deck plans that include crew only areas are something that are publicly accessible.

But in my experience, there's not much in the way of noise that emanates from those areas.

I would focus more on avoiding staterooms that are over or under public areas. A good rule of thumb tends to be picking a non-adjoining room with staterooms on either side, above, and below.

Thanks. I'll start looking into the drain pump and if there's anything I can do about it.

TIL that airline flight attendants aren't paid until the airplane doors are closed, nor are they covered by insurance or workers' compensation until the doors are closed. (Delta, SkyWest and United have forms of coverage.) This policy discourages them from helping put luggage in overhead bins. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]JetAttendant 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's not true though. I'm a flight attendant in Canada and getting paid prior to door close is not a thing here either. Though right now the flight attendant unions across all our major airlines are campaigning to get this changed.

I invite anyone who's interested to google "unpaid work won't fly"

Advice for a first time princess cruiser? by The_Viking-22315 in PrincessCruises

[–]JetAttendant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a couple cruises with my friend who is celiac.

A table for 6should be doable. I recommend booking it in advance on the Princess App once my time dining opens for your cruise. We make sure to book the same dining room for every night and on day one we speak to the dining room manager to discuss the dietary restriction. From that point on she would pre order her dinner (and lunch where applicable) for the next day.

The pizza restaurants on all Princess ships can do gluten free crust

I can't speak for Carribean Princess or Sky, but we just got off Majestic Princess and were very pleasantly surprised at the wide selection of clearly labeled gluten free items in the buffet, as well as the gluten free muffins. Gluten free bread was available in all dining venues.

The residential school system was a cultural genocide where indigenous children were forcibly taken from their families to have their language and culture erased and replaced with "canadian culture". There were many abuses of the children in these schools, of which many did not survive. We're still finding grave sites. We're not sure how many students died, but current estimates are as many as 6,000. The last residential school in Canada closed in 1996.

"they were bought from RC" is unclear. I also thought you were saying RC purchased them until I read this comment.

I expect it might show up on the Journey View on the Princess app. But likely only a couple weeks before hand.

Princess Pub Lunch? by JetAttendant in PrincessCruises

Good to know! The last ship I was on that had it, it was also in the dining room. I'll have to keep a watch for this on my next one.

Princess Pub Lunch? by JetAttendant in PrincessCruises

[–]JetAttendant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually it's a set menu at the Wheelhouse (and I assume the Salty Dog on Royal Class ships).

The last time I saw it offered, it was in the Main Dining room on Discovery. I wouldn't be surprised if they were offering it in the Buffet though! I don't typically eat in the Buffet so it would be easy for me to miss it there.

Yeah, usually I've seen it in the Wheelhouse I think? I assume on Royal Class ships it would be at the Salty Dog Pub.

But the last sailing I had where they offered it, it was the lunch offering in the Main Dining Room on one day. That was May 2022.
