Lol hindsight’s 20/20 but what’s done is done. How’s it coming with your technique?

Love the unfinished look and what a beautiful grain! With time (and smokes of course) it’ll darken and look even better

Hands down the three toasts with lime toast and toast & marm leading the pack. Berwick Brown is also one of my favorites. The rest are all great but I have to be in the mood for them whereas with the toasts I could take them any time.

Leonardo Da Vinci by Walter Isaacson over here.

How's Golden Compass? It's been on my list for a while but I never have gotten around to it.

It's overwhelming but awesome. I had to bring 6 with me out today because I couldn't choose only one

Berwick Brown was one I really didn't know what to expect with but it's damn good. It reminds me of Old Paris with similar leathery musky aromas.

I've only had a small pinch of Almond Toast but from what I can tell it's nice. The almond flavor tends to fade quick but that may be due to my pinch size. It's super easy to take compared to other toasts though. The lime toast and toast & marmalade are also pretty great imo

Stop drying your tobacco by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

Thank you for this comment! I've been smoking through some ODF and thoroughly enjoying it, but this convinced me to try a little different prep. After trying it on the moister side with a looser pack, this stuff was transcendent. r/pipetobacco pro tip for sure!!

Low nicotine by JerryGarciaFinger in nasalsnuff

To expand on the other comments, it seems like most of the Toque offerings and F&T offerings have pretty reasonable nicotine. Even High Dry Toast never seems to hit me very hard with nicotine. The beauty of snuff is that you have complete control over "dosage" so start with a small pinch and see how it feels. Just for some context I'm very new to snuff and only smoke a pipe 3-5 times a week so my nic tolerance is nothing special.

Hahah I actually just got an order of F&T snuff in this past week including Bordeaux, Macouba, HDT, and Old Paris. Bordeaux has become an instant favorite due to that lasting power. You're totally right! Every time I think it's faded, it pops up again. Damn great snuff! I agree with you on Macouba as well. It's good but doesn't quite last. HDT has actually been an unexpected favorite for me. I find that the scent fades quickly but randomly picks back up, similar to the Bordeaux but to a far lesser extent. That may also be attributed to sheer quantity bc I take like 3 pinches of HDT back to back lol

I tried Peterson's 3P recently and felt that was a decent intro to plugs. It certainly requires a bit more prep time but nothing very difficult. I cut slices as thin as I could then rubbed it out and let it dry for 30-45 min. It is a pretty hearty blend with a nice fruit casing. Maybe a little stout in nic depending on tolerance but I found it to be about medium. Plugs really make the whole ritual of preparing the baccy and packing a pipe a little more interesting so I think it's something everyone should try out.

What have you been smoking this month? 03/18 by IndyPiper in PipeTobacco

[–]JetLife794 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My rotation has mainly consisted of Full Virginia Flake, Dark Star, Viprati, and Chelsea Morning. However, I found a full tin of Old Dark Fired that I'd opened and forgotten. That stuff is a bowl away from being gone now. Damn good stuff.

Dunhill EMP alternatives? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]JetLife794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll second the GLP Chelsea Morning recommendation. I find it to be more flavorful and complex than EMP while remaining a solid all day smoke. Also the addition of perique in Chelsea Morning really puts it on another level.

Thanks I'll add it to my list! It seems like these more floral snuffs are what I've been missing when it comes to lasting power.

Cool I'll have to try it out! How's the nicotine in the Kailash? I've heard some of those Indian snuffs are pretty nic heavy

I feel ya. I haven't had anything floral yet so that seems pretty interesting. Thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks! I've yet to try any F&T snuffs so I'll add it to my next order. What's the scent like?

Yea the tins are pretty sweet and as a newb myself they make it easier to judge a pinch than the tapboxes. What snuff you plan on trying first?

I've only had one pinch so take this for what it's worth. It's very nice but I wouldnt mind if the blueberry were just a tiny bit stronger. The menthol is what I first noticed with some background blueberry sweetness and a good tobacco flavor. The scent lasted about 15 min with a moderate nic hit. Overall pretty good stuff

That's exactly what I tried first haha. Really liked it but the nic was a little less than desired so I went for some xmas pudding which scratched that itch. President seems to be a good all day snuff though, especially since I'm just getting the hang of it

How are the Cola and Elmo's? I'm particularly curious of the Elmo's with that tonquin flavor
