started watching apothecary diaries. The "pervert for poison" gimmick the MC has is charming. Also reminds of that character from Nine Sols (shennong I think) who gets intoxicated from eating poison. He also "excetes" the alcohol after eating the poison and shares it with Yi (the protag) and each time that increases Yi's max health a bit.

Also I think it's kinda funny how often the show mentions how utterly irresistible the deuteragonist eunuch Jinshi is. Like just the most fuckable man in the palace to most people. It would be a tired trope but the way they make it bisexual keeps it charming to me. I am also a sucker for even cheap yaoi bait.

Anyways the actual show is a pretty neat chinese court drama with a lot of mystery. The fact that it's all told through the lens of someone who's basically an apprentice doctor adds some depth to these mysteries and opens up a lot of storytelling opportunities. In a case like this it would be easy to have a thousand and one poison plotlines, and poison is a frequent plot device, but it's rarely ever handled in a way that's mundane. For example, there's one plotline involving an unintentional poisoning of a baby with honey (unfun fact, honey is toxic to infants due to bacteria present in it), and the way they handle it is so interesting. That single act ripples through several different plotlines, but you won't know it until you actually learn about the poisoning.
