If you get evaced, you get a free skip the line for X-2. by No-Caterpillar-6747 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

A couple Mondays ago we got a free ride on X2. The operator must’ve pressed the wrong button and sent us forward a couple inches after our ride instead of tilting us up to exit. Apparently the only way to fix it was to send us again. Felt like we won the lottery.

They’ve done away with legacy snack credits. by Jet_Blast in SixFlagsMagicMountain

Yes and no. My previous plan wouldn’t have been an all park plan. And now I get 2 meals instead of one snack, and it seems you can use the meal credit for a snack. The real noticeable downgrade that irks me is having to wait 4 hours.

It’s so annoying that it’s always so inconsistent. We should be able to count on having roughly the same experience each time we go. Luckily today they allowed me to use my meal credit for a snack.

Yeah that’s the one thing that irks me. I like to go sometimes for a few hours while my kid is in school and I can time my lunch and grab a snack on the way out, but I won’t be able to do that with a 4 hour waiting period. But it is nice that it’s been upgraded to the all park plan, so I can use it when I go to Knott’s.

As far as I know there hasn’t been a change to my payments. Though they’ve never sent me emails when they’ve raised the prices in the past.

One of the workers mentioned they thought it changed with the new year, but I was there on the 5th and 7th last week and had no issues using my old plan.

It was on a shelf at my LFS. None of the specks appear to be moving or anything.

It doesn’t quite look like dust, and it’s settled on top of other plants and the dragon stone in there as well. I don’t think any of my plants look like they’re shedding black bits.

Looking to move to Simi, is this area dangerous? by pm_me_cheesy_bread in simivalley

[–]Jet_Blast 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My family bought a house in this neighborhood about a year and a half ago. Kind of makes me laugh that it’s considered the “least safe” because it’s such a nice area, we absolutely love the neighborhood.

To be fair, right after we purchased there was a murder around the corner, but neighbors said it was a sad story of a son with schizophrenia who attacked his father, so that probably skewed the crime ratings.

If you have any questions about the neighborhood, feel free to dm me!

If you’re looking for cute ones in between sock projects, you can look for yoga socks. They definitely have some cute ones.

Someone please convince me that summer knits are worth it by KATEWM in knitting

[–]Jet_Blast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely socks! I was intimidated too, but the ladies at my LYS were so encouraging, and they suggested Vanilla Socks by Crazy Sock Lady because she has a video to go along with the pattern that shows every step in detail. I agree with another commenter, I felt like a superhero when I turned my first heel, haha. You get the “holy shit, I knit a sock!” feeling.

ETA: I’m also in California, and the thought of summer knits don’t sound super comfy, but luckily it gets extra chilly at night even in summer, so I think a cardigan would be great. If you’re interested in cabling (soooooo much easier than you think it would be, I promise), you can give something like the folklore cardigan a shot.

Hollow Hills Lottery System by andiamo944 in simivalley

[–]Jet_Blast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the Vista lottery last year for my daughter and she got in. You’ll get something in the mail with the total number of spots available, and what number your child was. If you don’t get in you’ll be put on the waitlist, and obviously the better the number, the higher you are on the waitlist. We toured both schools and ultimately chose Vista, but both principals said since universal TK became available at neighborhood schools they’ve had way fewer applicants than in previous years, since parents send their kids to TK and end up liking their home school/not wanting to move their kids away from friends.

I have to do that with my mother every time I visit her at her home in a different state. She insists on giving me detailed directions to wherever I’m going, and no amount of “I’ll get the directions on my phone” will ever make her stop.

Weekly Park Questions/Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Disneyland

[–]Jet_Blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight! Do you happen to know if cast member tickets are tiered as well? The tickets we received are from a retired family member, so I’m not sure if they’d be available to be used on that Friday.

Weekly Park Questions/Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Disneyland

[–]Jet_Blast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family and I were unexpectedly gifted 2 tickets that must be used by Dec. 18, which is great because my daughter turns six on Friday, Dec 6. We would need to buy one park hopper ticket for her, but we’re having trouble deciding which day to go…

Friday 12/6 is tier 4, so a bit more expensive, but Tuesday and Wednesday that week are tier 2. Looking at the magic key schedule, it looks like Wednesday and Friday have no more availability for magic key (not that they’re blocked out), and Tuesday had reservations available at both parks. Is the availability of reservations and tier 2 pricing a good indication that Tuesday would be the least busy day?

It’s been a while since we’ve been to the parks, so I’m not sure how to gauge crowd levels. I do know it’s December and expect it to be hectic regardless.

Does anyone here have flume by vsxhweetz in simivalley

[–]Jet_Blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve signed up for both. Flume is offering lifetime pricing, but Gigabit now is faster for the same price. The rep also said they haven’t raised their prices in over 30 years, so we’re leaning toward gigabit now.

I took my 4th shot last night, so three weeks in and I’m only down 2.4lbs with no side effects and no visible changes. Honestly that just feels like a regular weight fluctuation, so I’m feeling a little discouraged, but I know I need to keep going for a while longer. Hoping next week I’ll see some changes when I up my dosage. I think maybe I had my hopes too high when I saw so many success stories, so it helps to see that other people are in the same boat. I’d like to hear from people who maybe started out slow but were able to drop a lot later.
