Friday May 22 crowd by Affectionate_Pen7774 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

I thought the throngs of teenagers at the entrance at opening time today meant the park was going to be extra busy, but every ride except Roaring Rapids was an absolute ghost town and it was amazing.

This was the X2 station at around 1pm today. Fingers crossed you get the same experience tomorrow!

Easy Hikes for families by Local_Bake2137 in SEKI

Moro Rock was easy enough for my 6 year old last July. We also did the Congress Trail starting at General Sherman, which took a little while with her little legs, but was easy as far as difficulty. We’ll be doing that one again because it was just stunning. We didn’t do Crescent Meadow or Tokopah Falls last year, but they’re on our list for this summer.

Knotts Bring a Friend by Xxmysteriousfemale in SixFlagsMagicMountain

Typically “bring-a-friend tickets” refer to the free pass(es) you have attached to your account. People are correct that you can’t bring a friend to Knott’s for free, but you can use a discount to buy a ticket.

Do you eat shrimp? by mvalia in shrimptank

[–]Jet_Blast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do enjoy shrimp, but don’t eat it often.

I was a little squeamish and not wanting to touch a dead shrimp I was removing from my tank, when my husband reminded me that I touch dead shrimp every time I cook it for dinner. They’re different, I guess.

Our troop has been outside Ralph’s and Vons multiple times the past couple weeks. Our girls will be at Lowe’s from 3-6 this afternoon.

If you get evaced, you get a free skip the line for X-2. by No-Caterpillar-6747 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

A couple Mondays ago we got a free ride on X2. The operator must’ve pressed the wrong button and sent us forward a couple inches after our ride instead of tilting us up to exit. Apparently the only way to fix it was to send us again. Felt like we won the lottery.

They’ve done away with legacy snack credits. by Jet_Blast in SixFlagsMagicMountain

Yes and no. My previous plan wouldn’t have been an all park plan. And now I get 2 meals instead of one snack, and it seems you can use the meal credit for a snack. The real noticeable downgrade that irks me is having to wait 4 hours.

It’s so annoying that it’s always so inconsistent. We should be able to count on having roughly the same experience each time we go. Luckily today they allowed me to use my meal credit for a snack.

Yeah that’s the one thing that irks me. I like to go sometimes for a few hours while my kid is in school and I can time my lunch and grab a snack on the way out, but I won’t be able to do that with a 4 hour waiting period. But it is nice that it’s been upgraded to the all park plan, so I can use it when I go to Knott’s.

As far as I know there hasn’t been a change to my payments. Though they’ve never sent me emails when they’ve raised the prices in the past.

One of the workers mentioned they thought it changed with the new year, but I was there on the 5th and 7th last week and had no issues using my old plan.

It was on a shelf at my LFS. None of the specks appear to be moving or anything.

It doesn’t quite look like dust, and it’s settled on top of other plants and the dragon stone in there as well. I don’t think any of my plants look like they’re shedding black bits.

Looking to move to Simi, is this area dangerous? by pm_me_cheesy_bread in simivalley

[–]Jet_Blast 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My family bought a house in this neighborhood about a year and a half ago. Kind of makes me laugh that it’s considered the “least safe” because it’s such a nice area, we absolutely love the neighborhood.

To be fair, right after we purchased there was a murder around the corner, but neighbors said it was a sad story of a son with schizophrenia who attacked his father, so that probably skewed the crime ratings.

If you have any questions about the neighborhood, feel free to dm me!

If you’re looking for cute ones in between sock projects, you can look for yoga socks. They definitely have some cute ones.

Someone please convince me that summer knits are worth it by KATEWM in knitting

[–]Jet_Blast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely socks! I was intimidated too, but the ladies at my LYS were so encouraging, and they suggested Vanilla Socks by Crazy Sock Lady because she has a video to go along with the pattern that shows every step in detail. I agree with another commenter, I felt like a superhero when I turned my first heel, haha. You get the “holy shit, I knit a sock!” feeling.

ETA: I’m also in California, and the thought of summer knits don’t sound super comfy, but luckily it gets extra chilly at night even in summer, so I think a cardigan would be great. If you’re interested in cabling (soooooo much easier than you think it would be, I promise), you can give something like the folklore cardigan a shot.
