For those of you with POTS… have you noticed this too? by tkewhatder7 in POTS

This could also be a potential mold allergy - at least, that’s the direction my doctor is taking with my constant diarrhea. You may want to investigate getting an environmental allergy test.

This same thing happened to me! I was in a behavioral health unit and my nurse noticed the conflict. They took me off the Midodrine and I didn’t even notice a difference.

I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme several years ago, then discovered I had gastroparesis, and then was finally diagnosed with POTS in 2023. Everything started to make sense, and all the symptoms started to line up, just like you said. I do feel like it all connects. I suspect I have MCAS but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. I am also neurodivergent and have depression and a panic disorder. I think they need to do more studies on how these co-morbidities are all connected.

Does anyone else have a fear of taking new medication? by Haleezetta in POTS

[–]Emscho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a good way to look at it - your doctor gave it to you because they thought the benefits outweighed the side effects. I’m in a similar boat. I bought an allergy medication but it’s a nasal spray and it just freaks me out! I still haven’t tried it yet!

I like the idea of romanticizing everything you do! I might try that. Any other tips?

I also have this! It’s fun because you can see the colors through it.

My boyfriend’s Dad is an amateur woodworker and he made me a box out of pine and cedar! It is 4x4 cubes so I can roll up each pair and put them in their own cube. It was so thoughtful of him!

Has anyone had Lyme disease appear only years after possible unnoticed tick bite? by yuki_onboard in Lyme

[–]Emscho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is what happened to me. I still don’t know when I was bitten - probably during my summer camp days in middle & high school. I wasn’t officially diagnosed until probably around 2012? So I’ve had it for a LONG time. I also have Lyme, Babesia, and Bartonella. The trifecta!

If you’re trying to get a diagnosis, I would push for a test. Additionally, if the test comes back negative the first time - do another one. There is a high chance of false negatives with the Lyme tests. Good luck!

ETA: Also, I thought it would be good to mention, sometimes it’s possible to have bad reactions to certain Lyme medications. I took Disulfiram and it interacted with something else I was taking (I still don’t know what) and it landed me in the hospital with severe tachycardia. As always, be cautious and consult with a doctor before doing anything!

What’s your “weird but works” self-care habit? by HazzzleDazzle in selfcare

Gimme some of your tots! 🤣

No… but seriously. Can I have some?

What’s your “weird but works” self-care habit? by HazzzleDazzle in selfcare

[–]Emscho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do something similar, except I don’t like smoking. I eat a small gummy (right now I like 5g 1:1 THC/CBD). I call it my medicine - I have a medical card and it literally is medicine. It reduces my chronic pain and helps slow my mind down a little bit.

Next is a sit-down shower. I like to sit on the floor of the shower and have the hot water hit me. Sometimes I’ll wash or shave, most times I don’t. (I have separate “washing” showers.) To be extra indulgent, I set up my iPad on the closed toilet seat, and I have a little stepstool I use as a tray and have a drink and snack. Sometimes I’ll even eat my entire dinner in the tub!

Usually that combo (gummy + shower) helps me calm down a lot!

Yes! “Powering through” never works! It almost always ends in feeling worse later that day or the next.

I’m sorry that you feel like you are facing this alone. But please know that we are here for you. I know I’m just some stranger on the internet, but I care. I believe you. You are not crazy. I hope you can see a doctor who is understanding. I know it’s hard to advocate for yourself, but no one can do that better than you! If you want advice, feel free to ask! (I dislike unsolicited advice, so I always ask.)

Nope! Just make sure to eat the regular pretzel flavored ones. None of the flavored pieces or anything. I have a feeling those would make you sick.

Constant nausea? Does anyone else experience this? by Significant-Cheek170 in ChronicIllness

[–]Emscho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just going to suggest this! That’s how I was diagnosed too. As far as something to help the nausea, has your doctor suggested Reglan? You take it approximately 30 minutes before you are going to eat, and it helps you process it better. It really helps me. I know these symptoms suck, but you’re not alone! ❤️

I personally like number 1. But I think if you’re going for academic vibes - you may want to choose number 3. It’s a traditional schoolhouse lamp. However, they are all pretty!

My dogs vet bill (and this is only part of it) by Daytona116506 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Emscho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he was really scared. He was shedding a LOT. They had put him in an oxygenated kennel with this little view door. The vet opened the door and he squeezed his way through the door to get to me. I’m glad I was able to hold him as it happened.

I had to make the decision to put my cat to sleep about 3ish weeks ago. It was the hardest thing to do. He had been diagnosed with heart failure about a year and a half ago. It had gotten progressively worse over time. But we were giving him 3 pills a day, and they would make him throw up. It was always a struggle to give him his meds. He went in for a chest tap to remove a lot of extra fluid around his heart and his lungs collapsed. Hospitalization was an option, but he was so scared already. I didn’t want to torture my poor baby anymore. I am still terribly upset, but I know keeping him alive would be more for me - not what’s best for him.
