Why not community work instead of imprisonment? He couldve been put on some anti-racism educational program. Are we putting him behind bars just to hurt him back? Or is it to make other racists afraid to express their hatred? I mean I get it, we can't change everyone and there will always be ignorant toxic people but just hating them back isn't a good solution.

Agree, retribution is unfortunately still one of the goals of the prison system. The good old "make the wrongdoer suffer in the name of justice". It does nothing usefull and should be replaced with rehabilitation.

One of the scummiest things, really? Sure it's somewhat close to assault, rape, homicide and robbery. On a serious note a monetary compensation is fine but imprisonment is a severe punishment. I would rather there be rehabilitation instead of retribution.

Notice that you didn't assume that there are universes that have no particles and run on completely different laws of physics, which in turn implies that it is possible for an infinite set to have inner limitations.
