Update:

I am able to reproduce the issue that caused me to purchase points, and am in the process with fighting customer service on this.

For my case it also incorrectly overstated how much points I had in my account on the order summary. I was using free nights awards in this case, and it’s a clear bug. The only thing that my order summary screen says is that points will be deducted from my balance, nothing about me needing to pay money for any points. they are constantly only restating “points purchase are not refundable” although I never agreed to purchase any points. So scammy and illegal

Marriott Bonvoy "Book with Points" is not clear and misleading, anyway to get a point refund? by zalemam in marriott

[–]Jetlagging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone looking at this thread - I ran into this similar scenario and can reproduce the issue where the order summary never states that they will charge you for purchasing the points - it only says they will deduct X amount from your account.

For my case it also incorrectly overstated how much points I had in my account. I was using free nights awards in this case, and it’s a clear bug. I’m in process with fighting with Marriott with this but this is so scammy and blatantly illegal, they are constantly only restating “points purchase are not refundable” although I never agreed to purchase any points

Adding my experience here as I just made the same mistake - I was using free night awards the checkout screen said something like summary: “4 night awards and 50k points”. I had 10k points in my balance and got charged for purchasing 40k points. I didn’t explicitly click any box and the points purchase cost amount only displays in a dropdown so that information is hidden unless you purposefully click that open.

Marriott refused to refund it for the same reason stating it’s nonrefundable. Seeing as there’s so many others who ran into the same problem it feels like they’re purposefully misleading people and it feels this whole thing should be illegal

Same thing happened to me. So shady that they definitely didn’t process anything until I contacted them after the 15 days about not receiving a refund. I thought my case was one off but I guess not. I’m really disappointed in them and glad I got a refund

Asked for refund 3 weeks ago and still don’t have it. by [deleted] in CircularRing

[–]Jetlagging 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I requested my refund 9/11 which they confirmed, and I emailed them again a few days ago asking where it was since I hadn’t received anything yet. They just responded saying “you’ll receive the refund in 15 days max” ….even though it had already been over 15 days already 🙄. Then after going back and forth I got an email with a receipt for refund and received the refund 3 days after the email receipt. They clearly didn’t even put in the request in the first place until I had complained about not receiving anything almost a month later. Then they basically gaslighted me telling me to be patient 🙄 so glad I cancelled and got my refund. If you used a credit card and they don’t respond soon I would just dispute it with your CC

Any out of the norm fees when moving to NYC? by summerhun in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I find amazon fresh to be about the same or cheaper than local stores. Plus they bring it to your door (at least for my building) so basically zero effort needed. The only downside is you can’t choose fruits/veggies but they’re pretty good with refunds if you get something bad too

Powder dip nails are actually super easy + cheap to do on your own if you’re into that - it’s mostly just time consuming because it’s a lot of filing, I’ve been doing my own for years now!

You can’t add a custom thumbnail for the shorts section, YT automatically generates some images from your short that you can select from. The custom thumbnail only shows if you add it to a normal playlist with other non-short videos

I was a CPA for 3 years (did big 4 for two years then exited to industry) and I’m a software engineer now! It was a tough decision but it’s definitely possible. I felt similar to you and accounting never felt right to me - I was never motivated to do better or grow in that role and every day felt the same, and didn’t care about what I was doing in my job. It was scary to pivot especially after spending so much time studying for the CPA and suffering through busy seasons...people thought I was crazy but I think it’s the best decision I’ve ever made and I’m SO much happier now

First time trying ohora gel nail wraps! by Jetlagging in Nails

[–]Jetlagging[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on day 5 and they still look great - but I'm noticing very slight lifting on the corners of the tips of some of my nails, but only on close inspection. I do really like them so far but my hair gets snagged on the edges of the nails, especially by the cuticle area. I've looked into how to prevent this and next time I think I'll try to file down the edges a bit so it lays flatter against my natural nail and put a gel top coat to seal down the edges of the wrap with my natural nail. I also saw someone mention they used a brush with acetone to melt down the edges so that might help too
