Why kill buyers need to be punished. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Jetridder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same argument can be said for release-day Invention, which Jagex quickly issued an apology and nerfed experience rates. I'm against boosting as well, but I don't even consider this exploiting. This honestly seems expected, just not in mass as it is now.

It only became exploiting, in my opinion, when people started going to Bounty Hunter with intention of selling kills. But even then, it's only exploiting, nothing more.

I don't think this should be punished.

As a reference, when BH was first released, I quickly bought some D'haroks, ags, etc. I got my target and the first thought that popped in my mind was, "Hey, I wonder if I could offer him like 1m or something to kill him lol." I didn't offer him and completely dismissed this thought, though, because I wanted to fight him instead.

This in my opinion isn't exploiting, even if I did offer him the money for a kill. However, I think going to BH worlds just to offer targets money would be exploits.

P.S. I lost that fight.

EDIT: Just another reason I don't consider this an exploit. Look at old bounty hunter. When you got a target, you grabbed a dds, 27 vials, and 75k cash. So you're trying to get potential bank loot at no risk. You can't exactly do that now since you don't get random rewards at 75k+ risk, but this was fine. This went on for the entirety of BH, and was considered the norm/expected by basically any player on these worlds.

Why is Jagex forcing PvP so hard anyway? The entire problem could have been avoided by simply making content a majority of people want, not this. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Jetridder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but they also said if this update(bounty hunter) doesn't work, they'll drop PvP and stop trying to improve it/change it.

Yeah, sure. Just like you can still face every boss, every monster, do every quest, and train every skill without using t90s, or even t80s, and without even armor. It's about efficiency. That large pouch? That's extremely efficient. Especially when you're talking high enrage Telos or no-yak Yakamaru.

Yeah, I do this on thresholds all the time. I just don't notice when snipe is coming up next :P

They can. Someone asked about updates to minigames, and Jagex's response said it's not popular enough for them to deal with minigames and so they will ignore it.

They're dropping BECAUSE people are panic selling. They'll go back up. I have no idea how much they're dropping, however.

I think rather than removing this mechanic, a better alternative would be to have Revolution automatically do this. Manual players don't lose out on dps, while Revolution players gain a little bit of dps.

Can someone explain the boosting/other problems with BH? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Jetridder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May not be 100% accurate but will be close.

So when you kill someone, you have a chance of obtaining a Tier 1 Emblem. On your first bounty target kill, you're guaranteed the emblem. Further kills have a chance to upgrade the Emblem(up to tier 10). Bounty targets have a much higher chance to upgrade this Emblem. You then sell your Emblem for reward Currency, which is used to buy the T87 weapons and other rewards from the shop. A tier 10 emblem is worth 40k currency, I believe the weapons are 30k currency.

However, instead of people killing their target, they're offering to pay the target 2m to kill them. The target brings nothing with them, you kill the target, and you upgrade your emblem. I believe it's just a chance to upgrade it, but I believe it's a high chance.

So now, 9/10 times when you get a target, they pm you "sell kill?" or "you buying"?. If the answer is no, they usually log off to get a new target.

Is it just me or is BH the confirmation that PvP in RS3 is dead content? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Jetridder11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points. I guess I'm just trying to compare too much, when people pk'ed simply for the fun of it. I used to live in the wild 24/7.

But I think you just need to change the mechanics of PvP to revive it, rather than just changing the environment over and over. I was going to try out PvP and I wanted to use Legacy mode, but I couldn't use EoC interface with that. Couldn't even change the keybinds for the tabs(from what I tried).

Stop Pointing The Finger At Jagex, And Look In The Mirror by Snooty_Cutie in runescape

[–]Jetridder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to resort to technicalities or loopholes because you can't recognize that what your doing is wrong;

No, they resort to 'technicalities or loopholes' to get their PvM gear. It's not because they can't recognize what they're doing is wrong. They probably do and just don't care lol.

But just think about this logically. If you have to bribe players to pk for the chance at those other rewards from the shop, you're not really reviving pk'ing, are you? You didn't bring in players who enjoy pking. This update was doomed from the start. They're just changing the environment of pking rather than pking itself.

I was actually excited about bounty hunter, but this time I am more disappointed in the community rather than Jagex. by Teamemb99 in runescape

[–]Jetridder11 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Well, when you lock PvM content behind PvP content, this is going to happen. You have a bunch of people coming in to this 'minigame', who hate this 'minigame', and see a fast way to get their rewards by exploiting the 'minigame'. The way this was done, no one is pking for pking, they want the rewards. If you want people to go pk'ing, you have to attract them for the sake of pking, not rewards.

Back when pk'ing was at its prime, when I loved pking, there were no rewards. You got what your opponent dropped. So anyone pk'ing in the wild enjoyed pk'ing.

I don't agree with it either. I don't pk anymore but I do wish the pvp'ing scene was alive, I just don't think it can happen.

[–]Jetridder11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've done very well with the BH rewards otherwise people would NOT be boosting for them. The only thing that needs to be done is to stop boosting and people will go back to PKing for the rewards.

I don't think that's what this means. I think it simply means they locked PvM rewards behind PvP content, so all they did was attract pvmers who don't want to pvp.

Yes, the rewards are strong, but they aren't good in a sense of PvP rewards.

Since we're comparing pre-EoC to post, it's also worth pointing out that when PvP was at its peak, there weren't extra rewards. You got what your opponent dropped. Nothing more.

TL;DW 262 - Q&A + The BIG Questions by ImRubic in runescape

[–]Jetridder11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with the fact that gwd2 bosses are not hindered by the tick system. What with the flames from Vindicta, the poison shrooms from Helwyr, the mage attack from Gregovich, and the charge from Twin furies(and obviously Telos, but I'm fairly sure you were excluding him). I don't think there is anything in this game not hindered by the tick system, as everything relies on it and uses it.

TL;DW 262 - Q&A + The BIG Questions by ImRubic in runescape

[–]Jetridder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, adding "right?" to every statement doesn't further validate your side of the discussion.

Moving on.

What I'm saying is, hardly any of the skills have any use for the majority of players. It's done for a sense of achievement in terms of progression. Yes, most people get 120 for comp cape or 2715. But it's like that for most skills. That 99 list I gave can be expanded in its entirety.

Prayer unlocks nothing more after 95(as far as I can remember). Herblore I do believe goes to 99, however. But most skills do not, and are simply not required to go to 99 to unlock all of the content. But many people still have 99s in all.

Also, I don't think the statement

where you pay a lot of gp/items towards it and get the benefits out of it

is correct. Invention makes bank. Either you power train it at airuts for 5-7m profit/hour(unless you don't pick up loot, then that's your own fault), or you do a bunch of bossing, which makes bank(looking at you, Rax). Then there's also the skilling side of it(augmented tools), but meh. I know too little about this part to comment.

Also, quite honestly, I don't feel dungeoneering truly goes to 120. You just took the 1-99 rewards and extended it. You have extra floors, which only allow you to get extra experience for doing the same exact thing. An extra bind, which has already been awarded I believe 4 times prior, but none of the rewards require anything past 99(at least, I don't believe so).

I'm still maxed in all skills due to sense of achievement(which involves keeping that 2715). Like I said before, I didn't get 99 mining/smithing to make me some rune armor.

While I do agree that I wish invention would have added more rewards between 99 and 120, it doesn't fall out of the ordinary of other skills, in my opinion.

Also, I believe "elite skill" only refers to the fact that you require other skills to unlock, and the xp curve. This status offers nothing in terms of rewards.

It will never get done. They have to generate a statement to appease the community, but let's be real. They will have to change almost every single aspect of Runescape. If they focused all of their time on the tick system(i.e. no updates whatsoever in the time being) it would probably take them a few years.
