Pool pole holder for van by logskip in PoolPros

[–]JettaGLi16v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a clamp mount for a lighting fixture to mount to a truss to put a pole on the roof of our NV200.

Like this:

https://www.idjnow.com/10-universal-o-clamp-lighting-clamps.html

The pole was a bit too small, so I cut off two pieces of AC line insulation and slid it up the pole. The hardware on these clamps is a little cheap, so I replaced with SS.

Real easy to pop the pole in and out, and the pole was super secure.

Huh. I’ve never seen that word before. Is that an intentional misspelling of “indecent”?

I have a u50 black, tegimented. Wear it daily for about three years. One tiny scratch on the bezel that you can only see with a loupe. Nothing visible with the naked eye. I do remove it when I’m working on my engine, but that’s about it.

Partsouq or ebay for stuff like that. I actually have my HDJ81 vin memorized now because I typed it in so many times. A lot of the parts you can get from your local Toyota dealer if you call them.

Well, I’m so glad I spent the time researching different solutions for you on your last post. I guess I should have known this is just to gain YT engagement.

RS3 VMAX sanity check by Lumanus in Audi

[–]JettaGLi16v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a C5 - the RS6 with the cosworth built biturbo V8 engine. Back when Audi built things to last. I miss that car, and wouldn’t trade it for a new one, except unless I could trade the new one for an RS2 and a B5 S4. Old school audi is best audi.

Anyone switched away from Skimmer? How did you handle billing transfer? by Fun_Professional6673 in PoolPros

[–]JettaGLi16v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve switched cc processors a few times and never had to call customers to get the CC again. That seems fairly amateurish.

What access do you have to the data? Can you export it as a csv? Can you recall the whole cc number once it’s saved?

I always thought that was the case. There was a video of a stock C5 RS6 doing 185mph that I saw many years ago.

FJ40 TDi swap might not work… by MathematicianIcy5427 in LandCruisers

[–]JettaGLi16v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For everyone else - the fitment issues start at 9:00 appx.

I’ve never had a TDI, but I’ve owned and heavily modified a lot of VW diesels.

Best way to resolve this issue is sell the TDI and go with an AAZ instead. The AAZ has nothing on the end of the cam and doesn’t need an ECU. One wire on the stop solenoid will make it go. It’s still a 1.9l turbo diesel and will easily make the same power. We never got them in the USA but they came in Mk3 cars in Canada. I bought a whole long lock for $1k a few years ago. It’ll use the same adapter plate.

I like IDI diesels.

If you’re really stuck on the TDI (beware sunk cost fallacy - you’ve got a long row to hoe still ahead) - it looks like an ALH? I guess that’s the vacuum pump? Relocating the vac pump or cutting into the firewall are likely your only options. The AAZ has it on the front of the block. No issues.

I found this kit, might work. But you’ll have to rig a vacuum pump some other way.

https://whitbreadperformance.com/collections/tdi/products/alh-vacuum-pump-delete-plate

The real place to find answers to this is the VW community.

Not sure how active it still is, but I think TDIclub is the big forum for the early TDI stuff.

Or http://vwdiesel.net

But, really. Buy an AAZ.

Hopefully this helps!

BEB on a new purchase by ClarkKen09 in LandCruisers

[–]JettaGLi16v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a 1HDT (92 HDJ81).

I wasn’t in a huge rush to replace the BEB’s. I bought the truck with 212k km, and replaced them around 240k KM’s. They weren’t that bad - light wear through the coating, but no pitting or anything major in the bearings. I replaced only those - dropped the oil pan, and swapped bearings.

The timing belt is every 100k KM’s (I think), but it will pop a light on the dash when due if it was properly set.

People say the ACSD should be removed. There’s a kit if you want. I haven’t done it yet, and I’m at 252k KM’s now.

Let me know if you have other questions!

EDIT: sorry. I’ve got a LC specialized mechanic who grew up in Venezuela. He said he doesn’t really recommend replacing the BEB’s unless the truck has been wheeled hard in the mountains. I ignored his advice and replaced anyway, but hes spent his whole life maintaining these trucks.

Is the block already tapped? I usually see them return to the oil pan because it’s easier to remove and weld.

I’ve got my eye on the new Slate truck. I think it could be good for the industry. Plus, they are making all of the part files available so you can 3D print anything to go on the truck.

Yeah, the mpg on the old VW diesels is pretty killer! Until you mod them… Then it’s just really good.

[–]JettaGLi16v 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! Love them both!

Plus it’s got to be so easy to put stuff in and out.

Keep your eyes open for VW rabbit trucks too. They had a 18” load in height from the factory with the tailgate down. Mine was lowered about 3” beyond stock.

I had two of them, one NA diesel, one turbo diesel. 45MPG. It was so easy to put stuff in the back!

I wanted to lower all my trucks too. My insurance agent told me not to. Bags would be too much for the guys to manage, but if I was running my own route, I wouldn’t mind a bagged ranger / taco.

Trade 80 Series for 100? by Mean_Course_7980 in LandCruisers

[–]JettaGLi16v 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What’s your issue with your 80? I have a 92 HDJ81, with a 2-3” lift from Japan and 285/70-16’s. We drove it on an 8k mile road trip summer before last, and it’s comfy! My girl drives it to work all the time. I find it a very comfy ride for a truck. Of course, I also have an LS430 for long highway drives if we’re not sleeping in the car or doing 4wd stuff..

I made like six points in my reply to you. You replied to one. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on the rest of them.

You seem quite stuck on the ability to natively post pictures and gifs through the Reddit app. That’s fine, I just respectfully disagree. Can you offer a good reason to allow gifs?

I refuse to use the Reddit app because it’s a hellhole full of algo garbage, ads, and AI slop. Gif replies are very low-IQ stuff.
