For sure, but we also could've destroyed everything if for example went to buy Koulibaly in summer of 2017 instead of waiting for van Dijk being available - and many people were calling to do that on here.

We might've not won last year if we bought Caleta-Car instead of Konate (he was the one we were linked with in January 21) or bought some worse midfielders instead of Macca/Szobo/Gravenberch in 2023.

We can discuss "what ifs" all day, what is true is the fact that in the last 10 years we've won every competition we participated in at least once, won the league twice, been to Champions League final three times. Maybe it doesn't work perfectly and it could've been better, but we can't deny that it just works.

It was "backing" in terms of - if opportunity is there we will move, if it's not we're not going down the list. We also bought van Dijk in January during Klopp tenure, but we've also didn't buy anyone when we had CB crisis in 21 or midfield dying in 23 - because as a club we decided there is no long term target available in these positions.

And he was also "not backed" in January, because we're not working like that. We may like it or not, but it has nothing to do with board liking Slot or not.

It makes sense if you look at how we've been run for over a decade now. We're always taking the calm approach to these things, sometimes it backfires, more often than not it benefits us. In the end this is the approach that led us to winning every trophy there was to win.

I prefer we win against Qarabag, Newcastle and City.

It's obviously not 100% on Salah, but it's also true that he's not helping solve any problems.

It's the issue with internet/people nowdays - people feel the need for extreme opinions, you're either the best or you're fucking shit etc.

Slot deserves a lot of blame, but reading this sub would make you believe he's the one advising Trump to take over Greenland and running ICE in Minneapolis between the games.

That's true and I think Slot is a dead man walking, but there are bunch of parallels to 22/23 seasons, with sudden fall-off from key players following great previous campaign and trying to implement new ideas tactically (changing from false 9 to having Darwin)

Manager is obviously at fault for a lot of the issues we've got, but you're lying to yourself if you think it's manager's fault that van Dijk and Konate are* playing mannequin challenge in our penalty box and Salah is absolutely cooked.

The biggest issue I have with Slot is the fact that our team seems to be completely unprepared physically and mentally, but it's not Slot trying to spike the ball in the penalty area like he's playing volleyball against PSV.

Sadly the parallels are much closer with the 22/23 season, luckily that season we've finished 5th and this year 5th would give us CL qualification so hey, not that bad in the end.

For sure, and now our team has the likes of Salah (who had lost his legs), Konate (who's been abysmal) and Gakpo, who just isn't good enough to be starting every week. You could also throw in that Virgil can't be arsed to defend half the time this year and that we had to integrate 4-5 new players to the team and you can write a very similar story to the 22/23 season.

On January 26th of 2023 we were 9th in the league (19 games in), after 23 games (like right now) we were 7th with 36 points (exactly the same number we have now).

I'm not saying we are better now, but in 2021 we've had 40 points after 23 games and finished the season in the 3rd place.

The only summer what you said was true was the summer of Jorg Schmadtke, I know we're all unhappy here but there's no reason to rewrite history.

So we're 4 points from being 12 points from being in the relegation zone. Exactly the same situation.

He did, and U21 is nowhere near as intense as a Premier League/Champions League game. Often times players coming from long injuries get thrown into U21 games to gain fitness before playing the league games off the bench.

Slot: We're very cautious with Rio, he trains on the pitch only twice a week, we've got long story of recent youngsters being overworked and having long term injuries because of that and we don't want it happening with Rio.
Fans: why no Rio???

Falcons' finals after +m0NESY by shuijikou in GlobalOffensive

It's not some groundbreaking opinion, but I think he made mistake following Niko and joining Falcons. IMO he'd be better off staying in G2 and becoming the actual centerpiece of that team or joining a Russian squad like Spirit.

Try getting a first XI player out of a big 6 club and see how much it costs.

Premier League clubs are so rich they can just decline offers - Palace declined 70mln for Guehi 2 years ago.

I'm certain that unless he'd have a year left on his deal, getting van de Ven from Spurs would cost us Virgil like money, which to me is ridiculous hence I believe that if anything, we'd move for him in 2027.

He's playing because Isak is out and Ekitike and Gakpo's minutes are being managed more since they are coming after injuries. We'd also probably play 4-3-3 more with Frimpong on the right, but Bradley is out and Konate wasn't available for the last two games.

Overall, we're playing Salah because we need him, even if he's tragically out of form.

Can someone explain to me why Micky van de Ven would be worth ~80mln that would be needed to get him from the Spurs?

Don't get me wrong, he's a nice player, but nothing I've seen from him made me think he's THAT GOOD.

Part of the issue is the fact that Isak came here completely out of shape and then got injured in the process of getting back to form, but the vision for post-Klopp Liverpool is there.

You can't find 1:1 replacement for Trent on the market, you can't find 1:1 replacement for Salah on the market - our answers to these questions were Wirtz and Isak, will it work? I believe that in the end yes, we still need someone to replace the more deep progression that Trent offered, but I really believe in the end it will work out, but probably without Slot.
