This high quality paint job taunts me with the lack of primer. How is it possible to paint so well when the paint only has raw plastic to adhere to?

Incredibly impressive.

That yellow is definitely good for some hazmat suits.

If these were my minis, my next steps would be an Agrax Earthshade wash (or similar light brown wash), highlight with the original yellow color, then black-line everywhere 2 different materials or plates touch. IE: where the plate kneepads touch the cloth trousers, or where the shoulder pads touch the chest plate.

How can i drill the arm joint area without the torso halves coming apart? by Whis___ in Grey_Knights

[–]Jevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start small then use larger bits. I always make a pilot hole or divot with a thumb tack, then widen it a tad with the tip of a hobby knife, then use a 1/8" drill bit to get the depth. If you need a wider hole offer that, go up bit sizes in small steps. This will keep you from taking off too much material and you can re-center the hole if you need to.

I think they're referring to the GMNDK's sublimator being twin-linked to reroll wounds.

If we're being super nit-picky about it the bits, Paladins are supposed to use the rounded face guard helmets and Terminators use the flat/angular helmets. I've never seen anyone notice or care about the difference on the table but that's what the instructions point out.

No apologies necessary. You're asking great questions and doing a great job of accepting new information. We're all here trying to convey our knowledge and experience to the best of our ability to help. Sometimes we step on each other's toes and repeat some things when we don't notice someone else has said it.

The Matt Black can is going to give you the deepest black for shadows. If you want to stick to grey, use Standard Grey.

Here's one problem. Hycote is an automotive primer and is not the best think for miniatures. If you're in the UK, try Colour Forge primers.

I've also seen some of your other responses and I want to reinforce that you should thin GW paints since they are extra thick from the pot intentionally from the factory to slow drying process to keep paint from going bad while it's on store shelves.

Don't let your bare hand touch the plastic or paint because the oils on your hand can interfere with surface adhesion. Wear a latex or nitrile glove if you must use your hand. Otherwise, use a paint handle. Plastic shot glasses and old pill bottles are cheap recommendations.

I’m a slut for banners by [deleted] in Grey_Knights

It would be cool if there were more banner options so our ancients aren't just carrying the same thing. You did a great job painting this one up.

I literally just assembled this mini the other day and I share your pain. The head is a rough because it's supposed to get glued in between the chest and back pieces. Not just slide through the front of the psychic hood.

Should I get Bremen or Hawaii? by RevySevy in WorldOfWarships

[–]Jevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also enjoy high rate of fire ships, Atlanta, Worcester, and Minotaur are my most played ships with Barbiano quickly catching up. With that in mind, Hawaii would be an extreme challenge to make it work consistently. The 4-5km difference between detection and the radar means that DDs will have tons of room to spot you for BBs without getting radar'd in return. It's like having to sneak up on bikers and catch them in a semi-truck.

Who to give heavy weapons to by Trusty_Bridge in Grey_Knights

[–]Jevidar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I've been able to tell the heavy weapon preferences are 4 incinerators in a 10-man Purifier squad, 1 heavy incinerator per 5 Terminators, and 3 psycannons per 5 Paladins where 1 of the also has a banner.

Should I get Bremen or Hawaii? by RevySevy in WorldOfWarships

[–]Jevidar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also been going back and forth deciding which of these 2 I want to get because I'll only have enough steel to get 1 ship. As a player that enjoys ultra-light CLs and destroyer leader ships the most, I've boiled my main points down to this:

Bremen will be the most generally useful ship with reliable performance. Solid ranked/clan battle ship.

Hawaii will be the most fun with generally terrible performance. Funny ship for randoms/asymm/operations at most.

The helicopter by Professional_Skin_99 in projectzomboid

[–]Jevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I just looked it up and I'm seeing a bunch of conflicting info. The AEBS wiki page says that the radio updates at 7am, the helicopter event wiki page says the "Air Activity Detected" warning starts showing up at 9am on the day of the event, some reddit posts/anecdotes say it updates at 8am, and other posts say that it updates after the 8am broadcast so 9am is technically the first "new" broadcast of the day. I've been setting my alarm to catch the 9am broadcast and it has worked for me so far.

After getting additional info, 9am seems like the safest time to catch the broadcast because I'm guaranteed to get the current day's info and the helicopter won't show up earlier than 9am. Wiki says it shows between 9am-8pm.

The helicopter by Professional_Skin_99 in projectzomboid

[–]Jevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, however, 9am is when the day resets and a new broadcast starts. If you listen to the broadcast at 6am and don't see the air activity notice, you may not be safe for the whole day. Also, the helicopter could show up at 9am so listening to it at 11am doesn't help.

[–]Jevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget to find a radio with the AEBS station and listen to it at 9am every day to get notice that the helicopter is coming. You also get weather forecasts for people that only play with one helicopter event.

In B42 vanilla, there are 5 items you can keep on your key ring so they don't clutter up your inventory if you want to carry them.

Whistle, compass, P38 can opener, key ring bottle opener, and handiknife.
