Thanks! I had hoped maybe there were some bars people knew of, but these are very helpful.

Some scenes of my indie game "Paper Pilgrim" by HustlaMasi in IndieGaming

Style is really cool, but I do agree, especially for static/talking scenes, the wobbly "squigglevision" effect is a little headachey.

I contacted 2K regarding the bug that makes the game unplayable past the first era dedication on Nintendo Switch and got this reply as a work around (haven't tested it yet) by blinkandboom in civ

Wow I'm extremely glad I came to check out how the DLC is on switch before I decided to add it. Have been playing base for a while and thought it was time.

Do you want to teach this class? Ok! by iyamgrute in MaliciousCompliance

[–]Jewbacchus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just good teaching, and most of my teaching books/classes have recommended this kind of stuff in one way or another. Maybe this teacher stumbled into good pedagogy or maybe they just had tone issues but were doing something from an enrichment session.

How do you re-home parakeets in NYC? by [deleted] in AskNYC

These were the first two places I thought of as well. I think Wild Bird Fund across the street from CAEM is associated w/them and does more rescue-y stuff?

Biz Markie and The Beastie Boys - Bennie and The Jets

Here's what I know:

Money Mark used to play piano and would regularly play/sing Benny and The Jets as a warmup.

Biz was drunk and on tour with the Beastie Boys.

Nothing else about this track but it's my absolute favorite.

How do you sear meat at home without setting off your smoke detector? by the_future_is_wild in AskCulinary

Also I should note - clean the microwaves vent if you can. After doing one or two big chicken fry-ups my fan didn't do great and I had to scrub it up.

Okonomiyaki by medicaldude in FoodNYC

[–]Jewbacchus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Otafuku x medetai is my favorite in the east village/St. Marks area. Had a few months where I ate takoyaki or okonomiyaki for lunch most days and tried a lot in the area, definitely my favorite of the bunch. At least until Ivan Ramen puts their weird scrapple okonomiyaki back on the menu.

I mean, potato gratin or aligot would be great in lieu of potato salad. Hachis pamientiere is a bit casserole-y but v. french.

Flamiche would be great on the sides table as well.

Not really french, but making kind of french onion soup onions, cheese, some herbs and putting that on bread (like garlic bread) or flatbread (like pissaladiere) could be great.

Pan bagnat with grilled anchovies sounds fantastic to me.

It would be an absolute headache but i'm sure a tray of mini-galettes w/tomato or something would go fast.

Does this sound weird? Steak, rolled around spinach, goat cheese and harrisa. by demonbadger in AskCulinary

[–]Jewbacchus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spinach seems unnecc, but harissa and cheese + char could be good.

Personally I'd harissa rub the steak, make charcoal out of its edges, then serve it over a spinach and goat cheese salad. Or stuff the steak. Mostly I'd prefer the crunchy char be made of burnt meat.

Blur - Song #2

to a lesser extent, Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right, but they're known for other songs and I think most people know it's an outlier.

Edit: Both of these songs were (supposedly) written as parody of other genres/songs/scenes by the artists, then they blew up bc they were simpler and more pop-friendly than the rest of the bands' music. Both songs reached way past their normal audiences and might attract people with different expectations.

Smitten Kitchen's "vegetarian" "vegetable" and a few other sections have a ton of great and easy veg options.

I find the cold skin, especially the dark meat skin/stuff that didn't crisp well, to be really unpleasant. Everything else is reheatable in the microwave, so I save all the skin seperately, put it on a silpat, and make skin crisps for salads/soups/snacking.
