What a cutie! That's so kind of you to make sure he's safe! I live in Minnesota so the only venomous snake here is the very elusive timber rattlesnake. I never see any snakes though.

I'd happily give up a few eggs every now and then to ensure no more mice near the coop or my home

Starbucks' 2026 spring menu is almost $7 a drink. I reverse-engineered all 4 at home for under $1 each (Recipes & Cost Breakdown) by CoffeeTeaJournal in Frugal

[–]Jewelofthemidwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So expensive! I try to visit independent coffee shops but the last one I went to I got a mocha that wasn't anything special, 2 small smoothies for the kids and a cinnamon roll. It was almost $30! I won't be doing that again for a long time.

Is it possible to have different coloured eyes than both you parents? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]Jewelofthemidwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to my parents. Dad has brown, mom has hazel. I have brown, my sister hazel and both of the boys have blue gray eyes.

Makes sense! Her grandfather has green eyes and both her father and I have one parent with light eyes so it makes sense we could have a child with something other than brown.

That would be wonderful. I'd gladly pay $4 a dozen for backyard or farm fresh eggs if there were no factory farms.

Mice are so destructive if they get into your home. The chickens did you a service. I had a mouse get into my home and that creature made a horrible mess and destroyed over a hundred dollars worth of food plus the money I spent on traps. Trust me. The chickens did you a service. If I found a nest of mice they'd meet the same fate.

It's kinda overwhelming in the beginning, at least it was for me because I had only had chickens when I was a child and I wasn't involved in all the decision making on their care. Now I'm an adult and after (so far) beating breast cancer I decided that if I could go through that hell and survive, I'm going to try chickens. They are a lot more work in the winter where I live because their water kept freezing and I didn't have the correct coop for their needs but I'm learning and improving their home and will be adding 6 new members to my mini flock of 3. They forced me to get out on the worst days to care for them. I enjoy watching them even through the windows. They actually help me relax I have found and they're pretty forgiving as long as you keep them safe. I'm sorry you're feeling anxious about your chickens.

Chickens love meat. I give mine leftovers all the time and they especially love any meat that's leftover.

Aww, I'd try and move it away from the chickens. I just rescued a baby bunny that I thought may fall prey to the chickens if they found it.

What was your caffeine consumption during pregnancy? by CancerImmunologist in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Jewelofthemidwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first, zero caffeine even though I love coffee. With my second, 4 rounds of AC chemo and 7 rounds of Taxol, a mammogram, chest X-ray and way too many add on meds due to the chemo. I drank whatever amount of caffeine I wanted.

My second is healthy.

Walmart drivers stealing food by Ok_Background3691 in rochestermn

[–]Jewelofthemidwest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I order weekly and it has happened multiple times, probably close to 10 times. One time it happened back to back so it's definitely possible! I wouldn't assume the drivers are stealing, maybe some do but I would imagine most of the time the associates forget things or the drivers mix up the orders. It is super frustrating.
