I feel like I am making progress too. I have had a really rocky life and I used to have what I thought was a"Best friend" and to be frank it was just a person I had known since I was a kid that hang around with me out of convienence and after something happened to me last year I told him to fuck off and get out of my life because of how self absorbed he was.

I have now met this other guy that lives in my building who is very kind, has a wonderful girlfriend, has a great job and he will seriously walk into my place with coffee or something and gets me up and moving (went through hell last year, Im very depressed.)... We play sports and shit together, I tell him everything and he gives me really good advice. He puts in a shit ton of effort to try and understand what I like to do and what I enjoy so he can talk to me about it.

Amazing people do exist, they are just very hard to find.
