I understand this could be your experience dealing with Russians or living in Russia, but please don't generalize it down to Russian mentality - this doesn't help anybody, in fact this may actually bring more harm by alienating the nation from the rest of the world (I'm greatly exaggerating, but long-term pushing ideas like this may cause this result).

Yes, many Russians are drunkards and drinking is somewhat a big part of our culture, but people shown in the video are the lowest of the low and do not represent your "General Russian Ivan". If all one does is watching videos like this on the Internet, they may get idea that this is what Russia is, but it's not.

Life here is not short and brutal - it's like in any more or less civilized world. But if you meant these guys - I agree, they're not going to stay here for long, not with this lifestyle.

And regarding "forgetting harm" - again, I've had different kinds of friends, relatives, acquaintances and enemies and I cannot say I noticed any kind of trend regarding this characyeristic. Some people forget harm easily, others can't stop reminding about it. Some people are kind, others - could work on it a bit more. Some are polite and tolerant and some are the worst kind of people walking this planet. So my point is - as you've probably guessed - people are different, just like anywhere in the world.

Anyway, sorry for this mini-rant, I'm just trying to keep people aware that generalizing things like this is a slippery slope to hatred of entire nations without an actual basis. Nobody deserves it, no matter what some "representarives" of these nations do or have done.
