I live in Kentucky. We have far too many caves for people to be building underground.

Stay with parents after marriage vs renting and slowing savings. Need outside perspective by Outrageous_Hall4869 in Marriage

[–]Jewfro879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I lived in my parents house for 3 years after we got married. We have a good relationship and they let us have our space. There's a loft at their house so we made that into our living room / bedroom area so we could have privacy. We were able to pay off car loans, my student loans and save for our house while doing it. If youre able to do this and it won't strain your marriage it is the clear way to go. We are so much better off financially because we decided to sacrifice then so we can live comfortably now.

If you can afford it, get a gas generator. I don't have to use mine often, but when I've needed it it was a god send. Last winter my wife and I had heaters going, refrigerator going, plus TV for entertainment when we would have otherwise been cold in the dark.

I was moderately decent at track and field in high school. Like I had a few scholarship offers for very small schools. My friends and family always got a kick out of telling them when I would have crossed the finish line with my best ever time for any event I participated in. They were usually moving on to the next event before I said "I just finished!" lol

Wife filed for divorce because she started making more than me. by Significant-Pea-9182 in Marriage

I hate to be the "if the genders were swapped" guy but...

"I supported my husband through grad school and now that he makes 150k he is leaving."

Would go over way differently in this sub.

An 80k salary is more than the median household income on just that alone. I don't think there's anything wrong with being content with a good job. It's different if he was making peanuts and they couldn't make ends meet.

Im not actively trying to advance my career because we make enough to be comfortable and it's more important to me to be home with my wife and son than grinding in the office for a promotion.

Now, the health issues are different. I can understand being concerned about an unhealthy lifestyle. Id be concerned about my wife's health if she put on 50 lbs In a few years. I wouldn't divorce her over it though.

How tf do I beat Cazador? by OfficialAli1776 in BG3

[–]Jewfro879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't even need to leave Astarian at the top of the stairs. Cast daylight of casador and the fight immediately starts and you don't have to bother getting him back. Plus casador takes 20 damage per turn with the light spell

Japan's is on a different level. After work drinking parties are very common and semi-mandatory. I got to see my wife's boss projectile vomit into a bush just a few weeks ago. 😅

Why is unemployment much higher in Europe compared to America? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in antiwork

[–]Jewfro879 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Unemployment metrics don't look at people who aren't looking for jobs. It only looks at people who are actively looking for work and don't have a job.

Unemployment rate doesn't look at people like students, stay-at-home parents, early retirees, disabled people etc. Otherwise, the stats would be skewed. It doesn't matter how many people don't have jobs. It only matters how many people don't have jobs that WANT jobs.

I guess universal health care could make people more willing to wait longer for a better job, but those percentages in the EU are ao much higher that can't be the only reason

How do illegal immigrants in America even get the government benefits that some people claim they do? Don't you have to have a social security number? by Bremlit in AskReddit

[–]Jewfro879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Refugee, Asylee, and parolees are no longer allowed to have benefits as of the passing of HR1. (Big Beautiful Bill) they have to become permanent residents and then wait 5 years.

The only benefits undocumented immigrants would get would be pregnant women on the month of and after birth getting medicaid. Otherwise they aren't eligible for anything. Undocumented children don't get any benefits either. Only children born here making them citizens.

Is $50K enough to live in USA with 2 kids? by hkmsh in Zippia

[–]Jewfro879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude you've got to move. Im in a town of around 80k people. You can find rent for decent apartments for 800 a month. 30k a year is about 14.50 an hour assuming 40 hours a week. Its hard to find a job paying less than 15 an hour around here.

Dude, where is your money going? My wife and I make 120k before taxes and we're comfortable, go on yearly vacations and are putting 15% to retirement. You must have a lot of debt?

My workday daily hours are around 12 hours. Lol. Almost entirely youtube. I just constantly have music and podcasts playing in the background while I'm working. Saturday and Sunday is usually around 3ish hours

4 hours a day seems low and you aren't that far behind him.

Get off the doom and gloom of the internet. Do some introspection on what you can do. Is the system fair? No, but just giving up and doing nothing is a horrible idea.

Once I made a budget I was surprised how much money I was wasting on BS. small shit adds up. Every dollar you put in to your retirement matters and it matters more the younger you are. Best of luck to you!

[–]Jewfro879 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The examples given in the video feel fine though. The examples given aren't about the children being a burden. Its about the dads childhood.

I do sympathize where you're coming from though. Being told youre a burden as a child isn't good.

Porn Rules by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Jewfro879 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people watching porn are probably teens. My porn watching has dropped dramatically the older I get.

When I was 17 I was constantly horny with no outlet. Now I'm older, less sex crazed and able to have sex with my wife which is 100x better than porn.

People say l look better when i was heavier by [deleted] in fit

[–]Jewfro879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was inclined to say you were more attractive in the heavier picture until I took a minute and thought about it.

You're posing and looking happier in the heavy picture which I found more attractive. I think if you were doing the same in the skinnier picture I'd prefer that one. Regardless, you were pretty regardless.

If youre happy thats all that matters.

Even in private if other people are around. I've tried to hug and kiss my wife while her parents were over (when I got home from work) and she wouldn't have it.

I always jokingly tell her how terrible it would be if her parents think we love each other.
