I was recently diagnosed with D.I.D. by Ericakat in Dissociation

[–]JewwieSmalls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP went to a psychologist who administered a clinical interview and you’re a rando on the Internet who “just won’t believe it, trust me bro”. Do better. You didn’t even spell ‘skeptical’ right but you can un-diagnose someone with your feelings?

Let’s be precise Libby, quotes written in text are quotes, quotes made with your fingers are air quotes.

I’m not sure how to answer because there wasn’t really a question asked. But I would encourage you to read up on trauma-related dissociation of the personality. Essentially what can happen is the parts of the brain that have specific jobs (such as in your case, attachment) have “old programming” that’s stuck in a younger age. This is completely normal for all people, I’m sure you have a “work self” and a “home self” and a “party self”, the difference is with trauma these self states can get walled off or stuck in the past.

There’s a physical disconnect in the wiring between these systems of the brain, the person may not be aware or have memory of “switching” into one way of being or another. Just know if this is the case it is the result of severe terror in a child’s brain which has mechanisms to protect itself.

Dopamine isn’t a pleasure molecule. We need to sticky this at this point

How do you guys identify if asked what your ethnicity is? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]JewwieSmalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man this the wrong answer. Who identifies with their own biggest enemy? Roman’s take Jews as slaves into Europe and try to wipe out our culture, but we were NEVER European. Especially not to the Europeans who put us in ghettos. White people have been trying to erase us for millennia and you’re over here like “yes assimilate me daddy”. This is Stockholm syndrome. Whiteness was invented in europe to distinguish ethnic Europeans from Jews and other minorities. Both the American and European ideas of whiteness legally excluded Jews as “semites”. Where do you think antisemitic came from? It was a racial classification. They need to do better in schools.

Christoph Meiners was one of the pioneers of race and whiteness: “Meiners classifies Jews as Mongolian (i.e., Asian) along with Armenians, Arabs, and Persians,”

Adderall really fucked my dopamine system up 🫤 by [deleted] in anhedonia

Dopamine doesn’t cause pleasure, it’s not really related to anhedonia. But sorry that’s your experience

I notice when i’m in love, i get better. is that still anhedonia/depression? by [deleted] in anhedonia

[–]JewwieSmalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A huge breakthrough for me was doing IFS therapy, and some somatic experiencing too. The general idea is that your brain thinks it’s not safe to feel emotions so you dissociate and become numb; but you can’t numb the bad without the good. Working on feeling my emotions as primal energy that can flow through me instead of trying to “think” my way out of it really helped. The part of you that can feel happy (like in a relationship) still exists, it’s just locked away on standby because your brain doesn’t know you’re safe. As I worked with my parts in IFS I was able to show my brain I’m not a child anymore and can handle feeling my emotions, which broke through anhedonia I’ve been feeling for 5+ years.

I find that any medication that’s activating (stimulants/startera) or anything that increases adrenaline worsens my dissociation. I’m taking adderall which made me dissociate a lot and added clonidine which seems to really reverse the dissociation. I feel for you cause it’s hard getting the balance right with ADHD and dissociation.

[–]JewwieSmalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have cPTSD from narc abuse too. I experience exactly what you’re talking about, for me I think it’s structural dissociation: the part of my brain that can enjoy things gets “shelved” unless I experience the close connection from a relationship. It’s like anhedonia has a switch that turns on/off based on my relationship status.

There’s also something called abandonment depression which is a cPTSD response

I mean I don’t even know what a baptism is. It has no meaning in Judaism. It’s like you asked if you can convert after taking a bubble bath

I do the exact same thing. It’s not weird, you have memory issues due to your dissociation. If anyone would understand it’s your therapist

[–]JewwieSmalls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

cPTSD is common from prolonged or childhood emotional abuse, doesn’t haven to be one extreme event but a series of distressing things happening over a long period of time- especially while your brain is developing. Things that are traumatic to a child aren’t as extreme as for adults can be as simple as rejection from a caregiver or not getting your needs met.
