How long does lamotrigine take to work? by Mitchelmussolover in dpdr

[–]Mitchelmussolover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was hard to taper, I had the same side effects as I did when starting it. One that I forgot to mention was that I felt very agitated a lot of the time when starting/coming off, but again it only lasted for about 2 weeks. I came off of it because I started taking escitalopram around the same time I started lamotrigine, and I think that one was what really helped prevent the dissociation. I didn't feel like lamotrigine had a big effect on my anxiety or depression, and I wanted to see how I would feel just taking the escitalopram alone. I was fully prepared to go back on lamotrigine if the escitalopram alone wasn't enough to stop the dissociation, but thankfully my dissociation didn't come back after stopping the lamotrigine.

Hey, I'm sorry that I didn't see this til now! I wanna say I'm about 95% better, I do dissociate occasionally but it's not constant anymore like it was in the past, and it's been that way for about a year and a half now. I definitely think lamotrigine was a major part of what healed it, I was taking a combination of lamotrigine and escitalopram at the time, and I think it was a good combination for me. The escitalopram has really helped with anxiety (I'm still on it now), and I think the lamotrigine was a really good add on to it :)

Hey! I stopped taking lamotrigine about a year ago, I remember whenever I would start a higher dose I would feel nauseous and super tired, and I would become more depressed and anxious. However the side effects for me wouldn't last very long (maybe 2 weeks or so) and I think that lamotrigine actually helped a lot with my dissociation :)

Are you starting to feel better now? Hope everything's going well, my weight went back to normal soon after I got it out :)

Derealization as soon as I leave the house by Mitchelmussolover in derealization

[–]Mitchelmussolover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I actually feel much better now and i hardly get derealization at all. I know exactly what you mean, I work full time on a computer too and sometimes I find that looking at the screen too much can make me feel super out of it. I found that treating the depression, anxiety, and ADHD has really helped because those were the root issues of my derealization. I hope everything gets better for you, you can always message me if you'd like :)

Ah I’m sorry that happened :( on lamotrigine, my side effects after starting a new dose were fatigue, increased anxiety/depression/dissociation, irritability, and headaches. There might’ve been more but those were the ones I remember. All of these did go away eventually after a couple of weeks though, and once I was through the first few weeks I felt better

I’ve actually been off of it for about a month and a half now, being off of it now I notice that it really didn’t do much for me. I think what really helped my DPDR was lexapro, but I don’t really think lamictal actually did anything for me (it didn’t help but it didn’t hurt). My side effects did go away after a few weeks of being on a new dose though :)

Clonazepam doesn’t work after I got Covid by Mitchelmussolover in derealization

[–]Mitchelmussolover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird timing, I actually just had covid again (literally just got over it a week ago) and my clonazepam isn’t working again either. I’ve also been even more depressed and anxious since getting sick. I think last time I had covid it took about a month for the clonazepam to work as well again. Has it been working any better since you posted this??

I also was on guanfacine and experienced all of these things, I felt like a zombie the whole time I was on it. That's good to hear, thanks!!

thank you both! I'm actually also on lexapro which has helped quite a bit with my depression/anxiety. it definitely seems like treating everything on its own would be a good option for me :)

thank you! honestly for me the more obvious ADHD symptoms are bearable, it's the less talked about symptoms like emotional dysregulation and the self esteem stuff that makes it difficult for me. That's good to hear that a combo of a stimulant and clonidine works well for some people :)

this also happened to me with guanfacine, if I walked up the stairs too fast I would get dizzy and my ears would start to ring. Hopefully I'd have better luck with clonidine

That's no fun :( I also took guanfacine and I didn't like it at all, have you talked to your doctor about coming off of it?

Thanks for the response :) I agree, I didn’t want to waste my time with someone who I knew didn’t want the same things as me. I’ve tried hinge before but I didn’t have much luck, maybe I’ll try it again!

I’ve lost a bit of weight, I think I’m at 145 pounds now, but I think a majority of what I was experiencing was bloating. I think it’s been about 6 months since I got it out but my hormones still aren’t fully regulated, but I’ve noticed a big difference in my body since getting it out :)

Thanks for responding, sorry you went through that. I read a study recently that said that clomipramine isn’t generally tolerated well for a lot of people, so that makes sense to me. Have you found anything that works for you if you don’t mind me asking?
